5/1/18 Softball Wrap: Wruble Helps DCC Past Jburg Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Behind the pitching and hitting of Ashley Wruble, DuBois Central Catholic picked up an 11-0, six-inning road win over Johnsonburg.

Wruble got the shutout going six innings allowing six hits while striking out 11. She was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.

Chelsea Busatto joined Wruble in the three-hit club going 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs, while Shay Gulvas, Carley Semancik and Mia Meholick each had a pair of hits.

Gulvas was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Semanick was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs and Meholick was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Alyssa Bittner added a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Alyssa Kasmierski was 2-for-3 with a double for Johnsonburg.

Lindsey Kocjancic took the loss going four innings allowing eight runs, four earned, on nine hits while striking out three. Maria Jones pitched two innings giving up three earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two.

KANE SWEEPS BROCKWAY

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Kane swept a doubleheader at Brockway beating the Lady Rovers by scores of 22-12 in five innings and 25-2 in three innings.

In the 22-12 victory, Ella Marconi and Alyssa Oakes each drove in three runs with Marconi going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and four runs scored and Oakes going 1-for-1 with a double, a walk and a run scored.

Also for the Lady Wolves Katlyn Young was 1-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored, Emma Ely was 1-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored, Trista Kring was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI, Rachael Haight had an RBI and three runs scored and Rachel Danielson was 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored.

For Brockway, Mackenzie Overbeck was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs, Morgan Rendos was 1-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBIs, Leah Lindemuth was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Morgan Lindemuth was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored and Emily Botwright was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the 25-2 win for Kane, Marconi doubled and homered while going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and seven RBIs to lead the way for the Lady Wolves.

Also for Kane, Kennedy Himes walked three times, drove in three and scored three times and Ely was 1-for-1 with three walks, an RBI and four runs scored.

Botwright and Haley Hoover had RBIs for Brockway with Hoover and Rendos both collecting doubles.

Danielson got the win going three innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four.

TYRONE 4, CLEARFIELD 1

TYRONE, Pa. – Cate Baran threw a three-hitter to lift Tyrone to a 4-1 win over visiting Clearfield.

Baran went seven innings, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 10 while giving up an unearned run.

Helping herself by going 2-for-3 with an RBI, Baran was joined in the multiple-hit club by Allysan Jones (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 R) and Ella Pearson (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 R)

Brooke Cline had a triple for Clearfield with MacKenzie Lansberry scoring a run.

Abby Fedder took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out three. Erica Hanes went 1 ⅓ innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 11, CURWENSVILLE 1, 6 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Jenna Weisner and Brandi Clyde each hit home runs to help Elk County Catholic to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Curwensville.

Weisner was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored with Clyde going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Sady VanAlstine added a double while going 1-for-3 with three RBIs with Rosina Nero going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Maggie Dinsmore 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Bailey Blooms was 1-for-2 with a double for Curwensville with Sabrina Spencer going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Josie Smith got the win going six innings allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out five.

ST. MARYS SWEEPS PAST BRADFORD

ST. MARYS, Pa. – St. Marys swept a doubleheader from visiting Bradford winning 17-0 in three innings and 21-0 in five innings.

In the first game, six of St. Marys’ seven hits went for extra bases with Bekka Bauer, Micayla Bothun and Syd Eckert all collecting triples and Mekenzie Gillen, Brit Shaw and Maddie Bowes doubling.

Bothun was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Ecker was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Gillen was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Maddie LeGrys scored twice and drove in two with Shaw and Bowes each going 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored, Bauer going 1-for-2 with two runs scored and Megan McMackin scoring twice.

Maura Fledderman held Bradford hitless over three innings striking out seven.

In the second game, Eckert had a pair of doubles while going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and six RBIs while Bothun and Shaw each added triples. Bothun was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs and Shaw was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs.

Also for St. Marys, Brianna Grotzinger went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Emily Vollmer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Bauer was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Makenzee Maley and Katie Shok had hits for Bradford.

Grotzinger got the win going five innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out 14.

CRANBERRY 10, CLARION 9

SENECA, Pa. – Rachel McCauley’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded scored Andrea Watson, as Cranberry outlasted Clarion, 10-9.

The Lady Cats, who led 5-0 after 1 ½ innings, were down 9-7 going to the sixth but scored solo runs in the sixth and seventh to tie the game.

In the sixth, Sadie Rudesyle hit a home run off Watson to get Clarion within a run, then in the seventh Sydney Kiser hit a home run to tie the game.

But in the bottom of the seventh, Watson bunted for a single with one out and then stole second. Natalie Barcinas and Libby Kiefer were then intentionally walked before Malliah Schreck popped out to Kiser in center with Watson holding third to set the stage for McCauley, who singled to center on a 1-1 pitch.

Watson was right in the middle of the offensive action all day going 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, four runs scored and three RBIs. Barcinas was 3-for-4 with a run scored with McCauley going 3-for-4 with a walk and a pair of doubles while driving in two. Schreck was also 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Watson got the win going seven innings allowing nine runs, five earned, on nine hits, five walks and a hit batter while striking out eight.

Rudesyle was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs with Kiser going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and run scored and Kait Constantino 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Kait Constantino took the loss going 6 ⅔ innings allowing 10 runs, six earned, on 12 hits and eight walks while striking out eight.

KEYSTONE/A-C VALLEY SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER

EMLENTON, Pa. – A-C Valley and Keystone split a doubleheader at A-C Valley with Keystone winning 9-8 in Game One and A-C Valley taking Game Two 14-2 in five innings.

Jessi Philippi was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored in Game One for Keystone with Jacey Pritt going 3-for-4 with a run scored, Cora Black 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Alyssa Dunlap 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Emily Wetzel was 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored for A-C Valley with Cami McNany going 2-for-3 with an RBI and Kylee Eaton 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

In the nightcap, Syd Schmidt led the way for A-C Valley going 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBIs. Wetzel was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Eaton was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Kelsie Terwilliger also went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Philippi hit a home run and had two RBIs for Keystone with Black going 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

REDBANK VALLEY 13, MONITEAU 9

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In a game continued from April 11, Redbank Valley toppled visiting Moniteau 13-9.

The game resumed in the bottom of the second inning with the score tied at five, and Redbank Valley tacked on eight more runs compared to just four for Moniteau.

Dakota Hetrick had a home run for Redbank Valley.
