CLEARFIELD RICHARDS; BRADFORD’S CIOLEK NAMED TO THE AP PA BIG SCHOOLS FOOTBALL TEAM

 

HARRISBURG -- Dave Richards of Clearfield and Ken Ciolek of Bradford were honored by the Associated Press by being named to the third team of the Associated Press Pennsylvania Big School all-state team for Class AAAA and Class AAA.

Richards was rewarded with the third-team offensive specialist award, and Ciolek was named the third-team place kicker.

A senior, Richards, who was also the D9Sports.Com District 9 Special Teams Player of the Year, had a big season as a kick returner for the Bisons.

Richards returned three kickoff for touchdown this season for Clearfield with two of them coming late in games and resulting in the winning points for the Bisons.

With Clearfield down 20-14 against Indian Valley in Week Five, Richards 90-yard return led the Bisons to a 21-20 win. The with his team tied at 34 with St. Marys in Week Eight, Richards returned a kickoff 90 yards to give the Bisons a 41-34 win.

Ciolek, a senior, was a key special teams player for the District 9 Class AAA champion Owls who advanced to the second round of the PIAA playoffs this season.

On the year he was 5-for-10 on field goal tries twice hitting kicks of over 40 yards (42 & 41). He also was 46-for-51 on point after touchdown attempts, and he kicked the ball off 67 times averaging 57.6 yards per kickoff. His average kickoff went to the opponents 3-yard line.

The Associated Press has not released its Small Schools (Class AA & Class A) team yet.
