DUBOIS -- It's homecoming night at DuBois' E.J. Mansell Stadium in one
of the biggest games of the week in District 9.
It's a District 9 League showdown between DuBois (4-2 overall, 3-0 D9
League) and Bradford (6-0, 4-0). The Owls will clinch the league title
with a win and the Beavers would guarantee themselves at least a share of
the title with a win. DuBois wraps up its league schedule in two weeks
against Clearfield.
Last year, Ken Ciolek kicked three field goals as Bradford won at home,
16-14, and beat DuBois for the first time since 1988.
The Owls, 52-6 winners at Brookville last week, have won 15 of their last
16 games dating back to last year and 13 straight regular season games.
Tremendous balance lead the Bradford Owls thanks to running backs Jason
Casey (554 yards, 10.5 yards per carry, 6 TDs), Elliott George (327 yards,
6 TDs) and Jim Nuzzo (426 yards, 2 TDs). Ben Copeland has six
interceptions for the Owls defense.
DuBois, 28-7 winners over St. Marys last week, is led by a hot Derek
Marshall. Marshall rushed for a school record 345 yards on 44 carries last
week and scored four touchdowns. At 970 yards for the season, he needs
only 30 to reach 1,000. |
