BRADFORD TOPS CLEARFIELD FOR FIRST REGULAR SEASON WIN OVER BISON IN 11 YEARS

BRADFORD -- Ben Copeland had three interceptions and 10 tackles to spearhead a Bradford defense which shutdown Clearfield Friday night 13-7.

Senior linebacker Mike Fair added 11 tackles and a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

The win was the first win in 11 years during the regular season for Bradford against Clearfield. The Owls, who did beat the Bison in last season's District 9 Class AAA title game, had started the past 10 years 0-1 with loses to Clearfield. 

Bradford built a 13-0 halftime lead and held off the Bison down the stretch.

Clearfield fullback Matt Meckey scored on a four-yard run for the Bison's lone score.

Halfback Jason Casey ran for 101 yards and fullback Jim Nuzzo had a 100 yards on the ground to pace the Bradford offense.

The Owls racked had 240 yards rushing and 296 total yards. Clearfield ended up with just 136 yards of offense.

Bradford hosts Olean next Friday and Clearfield travels to Brookville.
