By Jeff Jovenitti For D9Sports.Com JOHNSONBURG -- Francis Jovenitti scored four first-half touchdown to lead Johnsonburg to a 35-12 win over Port Allegany in the season opener for both squads Friday night at Johnsonburg. The Rams ran off to a 35-0 halftime lead, both teams played the second half with the JV teams. Port Allegany mustered 2 late scoring TD's passes to make the final 35-12. Jovenitti led the attack with all of his production in the first half. The Ram senior scored on a 2-yard touchdown run and an 81-yard touchdown pass, in which he turned in a short pass into the big play. Jovenitti also returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown. The Ram juggernaut then broke loose for another 21-yard touchdown run to close out the half. Jovenitti led all rushers with 90 yards on 14 carries. Jovenitti also had 2 quarterback sacks on defense and returned a kick off 56 yards. Francis Iorfido also had a big night as he opened up the scoring with a 31-yard touchdown pass to wide out Mike Carter to start the scoring. Iorfido finished the night 4 of 7 for 140 yards. He also rushed for 54 yards on 4 totes. Again all of this was in the first half. Steve Iorfido totaled 30 yards on 2 carries and Eric Bennett added 26 yards. The Rams rushed for a total of 220 yards as a team, Head Coach Bob Vallone said "The offensive line had one of their best efforts," Johnsonburg coach Bob Vallone said. The line is made up of senior's Brian Muroski, Matt Myers, Rich Schrieber, Brandon Zimmerman, Travis Adkison and Ryan Yurchick. The Rams defense played as well as a defense could play not giving up a first down until late in the third quarter. Port had a total of only 116 yards for the game and most of that was in the second half. Port scored on two passes in the fourth quarter when Craig Flint connected with Claude Haskins for a 19 yarder and Jeremy Niece for 27 to round out the scoring.
