PUNXSY FALLS TO OIL CITY

PUNXSUTAWNEY -- In a battle of District 9 versus District 10 the Punxsy Chucks battled Oil City down to the wire Friday night but came up short losing to the Oilers 21-14.

The game ended with Punxsy at the Oil City 8-yard line as time expired.

The Chucks got off to a slow start, fumbling on two of their first three possessions as Oil City built a 14-0 lead.

Punxsy cut the lead to 14-7 with just under five minutes to go in the first half as Dustin Guidish scored the first of his two touchdowns on a 15-yard run.

Punxsy intercepted Oil City on its first possession of the second half and then drove 32 yards in 10 plays to tie the score at 14.

Guidish scored the touchdown on the two-yard run.

Unfortunately for Punxsutawney the Oilers responded with a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to grab the lead back at 21-14 as the third quarter ended.

The teams each had one possession in the fourth quarter with the Chucks using the final five minutes of the game going from their own 29-yard line to the Oil City eight as time expired.

The bright spot for Punxsutawney was Dustin Guidish who rushed for over 100 yards and scored both Punxsy touchdowns. Punxsutawney will play next at Dubois Friday night Sept. 7.
