BROCKWAY RUNS OVER KANE 33-8 |

By Barry Morgan, D9Sports.com Contributor KANE - The Brockway Rovers ran and passed their way to a convincing 33-8 victory over the Kane Wolves at Paul R. Miller Stadium in Kane. Kane won the toss and elected to receive. After gaining just 7 yards in three carries, the Wolves were forced to punt. A good runback by Jon Cantafio set the Rovers up on the Kane 43 yard line. Cantafio bulled his way for a 27 yard gain on first down. Trenton Marnati found the end zone from one yard out six plays later and the Rovers led 6-0. The next two possessions were fruitless for the Wolves. Starting at the Kane 24 and using just five plays, Jeremy Sickeri burst two yards for the second score with 7:29 to go in the first half, giving the Rovers a 12-0 lead. Rich Kolash caught the conversion pass from John Himes to make it 14-0 at the half. Brockway took the second half kick and used the clock wisely. Cantafio capped a seven play, sixty-two yard drive with a six yard run for a score. Cantafio's kick was blockd and Brockway led 20-0. After Kane was forced to punt, Brockway found the endzone again. Running from one side of the field to the other under extreme pressure, sophomore John Himes found Trenton Marnati wide open in the Kane secondary. Marnati took it to the house going 43 yards for his second score. With 3:57 to go in the third quarter, Brockway led 26-0. Kane's only score came with 3:02 to go in the third quarter as Tyler Smith threaded the need le to tight end Mike Jamerson for a 77 yard score. Hugh Rich tacked on the extra points with a pass reception from Tyler Smith. Brockway 26- Kane 8 after three quarters. Jeremy Sickeri added a 24 yard run for a score with
8:55 to go in the game on a beautiful run around the right side.
Cantafio's kick made it 33-8 Rovers. Substitutes finished the game
for both squads. Brockway is 1-1 and entertains Elk County Catholic
next Friday. The Wolves travel to Eisenhower. |
