JOHNSONBURG MOVES TO 2-0 ON THE YOUNG SEASON

WEEK 2

JOHNSONBURG – Francis Iorfido and Francis Jovenitti combined to rush for 272 yards of Johnsonburg 319 rushing yards leading the Rams to a 27-6 win over Cameron County on homecoming night Friday in the Paper City.

Iorfido led the barrage with 151 yards, and Jovenitti added 121 yards.

Iorfido and Jovenitti each scored two touchdowns, which gives Jovenitti six total touchdowns on the young season.

Johnsonburg led 14-0 at halftime, but the Raiders used a stingy and quick defense to keep the score at that until the end of the third quarter.

Burg did manage to put 13 more points on the board in the fourth quarter, and the Raiders got a 1-yard touchdown run by Scott Horning to put points on the board with a final of 27-6 for the Rams.

Burg also had two long touchdowns called back due to penalties

The difference for the second week in a row for Johnsonburg was the dominance of the Rams big men up front.

" We wore them down," Johnsonburg head coach Bob Vallone said. "We did need to not make as many mistakes as we did, but the line blocked well."

Again the senior dominated line of Bryan Muroski, Matt Myers, Travis Adkison, Justin Horchen and Ryan Yurchick opened up large holes for the backs.

Gideon Hornug led the rushing attack for Cameron County rushing for 34 yards on five carries while Hornig added 24 yards on nine carries. Hornug was 5-for-17 passing for 81 yards.

The Rams are now 2-0 and will travel to Curwensville next week to take on the Tide, while Cameron County is 1-1 and will host Ridgway next week.
