CURWENSVILLE LINE PAVES WAY TO WIN

CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Tide used a strong offensive line and a powering running attack to hold off the Johnsonburg Rams in a key AML North contest 24-14 Friday night at Curwensville.

The Tide never trailed in the game and went on a very important drive after the Rams closed to 18-14 midway through the third quarter.

Joe Bennett capped of a 72-yard drive after the Rams closed the gap to ensure a Tide win. Bennett also led the rushing attack with 131 yards for the night. The Tide rushed for 250 total yards on the ground and the was the key to the Rams loss according to Johnsonburg coach Bob Vallone.

"We did not tackle very well tonight," Vallone said. "We had our chances!"

Curwensville's offensive line did a tremendous job when it had to time and time again. The Rams could not stop the Tide when they had to.

Ryan Bigler also had 73 yards rushing and QB Jim Thompson connected on 5-of-12 passes for 82 yards and 1 touchdown for Curwensville.

For the Rams, Francis Jovenitti picked up his third straight 100-yard game on the ground finishing with 105 yards for the Rams. Jovenitti also had a 10-yard touchdown run, and Steve Iorfido capped off a long drive with a two-yard touchdown

The Rams fall to 2-1 and the Tide raised their record to 2-1. Burg is at home Friday against Kane and the Tide travels to ECCHS.
