KANE GETS INTO WIN COLUMN

RUSSELL – The Kane Wolves throttled Eisenhower Friday night 28-7 in an AML North-South match-up.

Ike won the coin toss and elected to receive. A seven play drive starting at their own seventeen yard line stalled at the forty-two. Kane took over after a punt and marched 67 yards in 10 plays, sparked by tailback Justin Jeffords and timely passing by Tyler Smith, At the 3:08 mark of the first quarter, Jeffords took a handoff and ran 7 yads for the first score. Jared Cecchetti's extra point kick split the uprights and Kane led, 7-0.

Eisenhower continually struggled offensively as Kane applied solid defensive pressure.

The Wolves third possession started at the Ike 45. Jeffords ripped off ten yards on first down to the Ike 35. THe next play found Jeffords running all the way to the 2 for 33 yards. Fullback Keith Morrison went the final two yards for the score. Cecchetti was good again on the kick and the Wolves led 14-0.

Morrison recovered a fumble and the Wolves set up shop on the home teams 40 yard line. It took the Wolves just three plays to strike pay dirt again. Hugh Rich caught a 12 yard toss from Smith. Jeffords skirted the right side for five. On second down from the 28, Smith tossed a short pass to Jeffords who took it the distance and Kane led 21 to zip after Cecchetti's third extra point kick.

Ike scared the Wolves with a six play 77 yard drive for a score with only 6 seconds to go in the half. Tom Kibbey score from five yards out and Christenson's kick made it 21-7 at the half.

The Wolves came out fired up to start the third quarter. A nine play drive that consumed 6:35 of the quarter, saw the Wolves run eight straight times, putting the ball at the three. Mike Jamerson hauled in a short pass from Smith into the end zone and Cecchetti's fourth straight extra point made it 28-7. Nether team would find the end zone again.

The Kane defense shut Ike out in the second half, holding the Knights to a minus 21 yards.
