TIMM LEADS CRUSADERS TO WIN

ST. MARYS - Craig Timm rushed for 173 yards on 22 carries to power the Elk County Catholic Crusaders to a 24-21 win over Kane in an AML Southern Division game at Dutch Country Stadium in St. Marys.

Kane won the toss and elected to receive.  Mike Jamerson, normally a tight end, played tailback for the Wolves on their initial possession. Carrying the ball four straight times, Jamerson banged in from the four yard line  with 6:47 to go in the first quarter.  Jared Cecchetti's extra point kick made it 7---0 Wolves.

A Kane fumble on a pitch from Tyler Smith to Justin Jefferds set the Crusaders up on their own 47.

With 9:41 to go in the second quarter, Timm scored the first of his three touchdowns from 41 yards out, culminating a 3 play 53 yard drive, to make it 7-6.  Todd Silfes caught the conversion pass to make it 8-7, Crusaders.

The Wolves would respond immediately.  Tim Smith took the ensuing kickoff 77 yards down the left sideline, behind solid blocking for a touchdown.  Cecchetti's kick was good.  Kane led 14-8.

The Crusaders would turn to Timm again with 6:42 to go in the first half.  Running the same play as their first score, Timm raced 43 yards to paydirt.  He tacked on the two point conversion fpr a 16-14 lead at the half.

Elk County's first possession of the second half ended with a Tim Smith interception that set the Wolves up on the Crusader 41.  Kane had to punt after three downs and the Crusaders were ready to roll.

Timm culminated a 9 play 48 yard drive with a two yard burst, amking it 22-14 with 2:53 remaining in the third canto.  Robert Pearsall tacked on the conversion for a 24-14 lead.

Kane's Hugh Rich caught a two yard toss from Tyler Smith with 8:27 remaining, to make it 24-20.  Cecchetti's conversion was good.  Elk County led 24-21.

After the Wolves were stopped on fourth and short, Elk took the ball with 4:33 to go and ran out the clock, with Timm playing a big role, rushing for 41 yards as the Crusaders won their third game of the season to go to 3-3 on the season.  Kane drops to 1-5.
