 REDBANK VALLEY FALLS TO SHENANDOAH VALLEY

NEW BETHLEHEM – Ryan McClafferty rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries to lead Shenandoah Valley to a 41-16 win over Redbank Valley Saturday night at Redbank.

Zack Fronk added 114 yards passing while going 7-for-21 and threw two touchdown passes, both to Mike Zulkowski to help the Blue Devils to the win.

The Bulldogs were unable to match-up height-wise with Zulkowski, who is listed at 6’7".

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 12-0 lead after one quarter on a 5-yard run from McClafferty and and 5-yard catch by Zulkowski.

Shenandoah Valley then put the game away with 14 straight third-quarter points. McClafferty had a 50-yard scoring run to start the third-quarter scoring, and Palubinsky returned an interception 43 yards for another score.

Redbank Valley got its first points of the night on an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Tyson Truitt following the Palubinsky score.

Zulkowski, though, caught a 22-yard touchdown pass to make the score 34-8 before Lee Jordan caught an 18-yard pass from Chris Merwin to end Redbank Valley's scoring.

Palubinsky then ended all scoring with a 2-yard run.

Ron Geist led the Bulldogs with 20 carries for 98 yards and two catches for 14 yards.

PORT ALLEGANY GETS FIRST WIN

DUKE CENTER – Port Allegany jumped out to a 14-0 lead at halftime and held on for a 14-8 win over Otto-Eldred in an AML North contest between two teams looking for their first win Friday night at Otto-Eldred.

Adam Rohrer got the scoring started for the Gators with a 22-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Claude Haskins then intercepted a Lucas Breese pass and returned it 46 yards for a second score.

Otto-Eldred got back into the game on a 33-yard touchdown catch by Josh Barnish on a pass from Breese and a two-point conversion pass from Breese tp Josh Fox in the third quarter that cut the score to 14-8.

The Gators defense then held with about two minutes left in the fourth quarter when Otto-Eldred had a first-and-goal at the 6-yard line.

STATE COLLEGE SHUTS OUT DUBOIS

STATE COLLEGE -- The DuBois Beavers' perfect season came to an end as State College shut them out, 34-0, Friday night in a match-up between former Allegheny Football Conference rivals.

Ryan Ricks rushed for 109 yards on only eight carries and scored on touchdown runs of 67 and 8 yards. Quarterback Kevin Suhey completed 7 of 8 passes for 153 yards, including TD passes of 41 yards to Brandon Ream and 12 yards to Jon Stupar.

State (3-1) led 21-0 at intermission on its way to its sixth straight win over the Beavers, who fell to 3-1.

DuBois quarterback Chad Hilliard completed 10 of 18 passes for 126 yards. Running back Derek Marshall's string of three straight 100-yard games came to an end as he gained 56 yards on 10 carries. DuBois was only outgained, 371-332, by State College.

FOX RUSHES FOR 337 YARDS IN ST. MARYS WIN OVER BROOKVILLE

ST. MARYS -- Dan Fox led a second-half comeback as St. Marys rallied to beat visiting Brookville, 22-12, Friday night in a District 9 League contest.

Fox rushed for a whopping 337 yards on 38 carries. He scored all three of the Flying Dutchmen's touchdowns on runs of 28, 3 and 13 yards.

St. Marys (2-2) trailed Brookville (0-4), 12-0, at intermission. Fox's 28-yarder came at the 11:18 mark of the third quarter. His 3-yard TD run gave the Dutch the lead for good at 15-12 with only 3:13 left in the game. Fox completed the scoring on a 13-yard run with 52 seconds left in regulation.

Brookville scored first on Norman Byerly's 21-yard run with 8:48 remaining in the first quarter. Quarterback Cole Cook made it 12-0 on a 10-yard run with just six seconds left in the first half. Cook completed 14 of 24 passes for 178 yards.

BALANCED ATTACK LEADS CURWENSVILLE OVER ECC

ST. MARYS -- The Curwensville Golden Tide got touchdowns from four different players and kept pace with the rest of the Allegheny Mountain League South Division contenders with a solid 26-8 win over Elk County Catholic Saturday night at Dutch Country Stadium.

Joe Bennett and Ryan Bilger scored on 3- and 6-yard runs respectively while quarterback Jim Thompson tossed TD passes to Nate Irwin and Mark Records covering 23 yards and 16 yards.

Curwensville (3-1) is tied with Brockway, Cameron County and Johnsonburg for first place in the AML South. Elk County Catholic dropped to 1-3.

Bilger led the Tide with 133 yards rushing on only 10 carries. Curwensville rushed for 227 yards and outgained ECC, 289-147, limiting the Crusaders to only 77 yards rushing on 30 attempts. 

STEWART THROWS FOUR TDS & RUNS FOR TWO TO LEAD A-C VALLEY TO WIN OVER UNION 

FOXBURG – Mike Stewart had a direct hand in six A-C Valley touchdowns helping the Falcons to their first win of the season 57-28 over Union Friday night at A-C Valley.

Stewart was 10-for-15 passing for 221 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed the ball nine times for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Josh Defibaugh was Stewart’s top receiver catching nine passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns.

Zach Hetter added 24 carries for 162 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons who racked up 615 yards of total offense on the night.

WEST SHAMOKIN INCHES PAST MONITEAU 16-13

NuMINE – West Shamokin continued to show that it is an improved football team evening its record at 2-2 on the season with a 16-13 win over Moniteau (2-2) Friday night in the first football game ever played at the Wolves’ new football stadium in NuMine.

Once in again it was freshman quarterback Trevor Henderson giving the Wolves the big lift going 9-for-16 passing for 118 yards.

Things didn’t start out well for West Shamokin, as Moniteau’s Bill Staab grabbed the opening kickoff and went 85 yards for the game’s first touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

The Wolves answered Moniteau’s scored late in the first quarter when Henderson hit Bill Fulton for a 20-yard scoring play to give West Shamokin an 8-7 lead with the two-point conversion.

West Shamokin then made the score 16-7 when Henderson hit Dan Stripling with an 11-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Late in the game Moniteau climbed to within three point when Heath Schreffler hit Ryan Jackson with a touchdown pass.

Fulton, though, recovered the on-side kick preserving the win for the Wolves.

Fulton added 97 yards rushing for West Shamokin and also blocked a punt.

Ryan Jackson ran 11 times for 56 yards to lead Moniteau

Moniteau will host Karns City Friday, while West Shamokin travels to Keystone.
