BROCKWAY WINS KEY AML SOUTH MATCH-UP AGAINST JOHNSONBURG

BROCKWAY – Jeremy Sickeri ran for 97 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries to lead Brockway (4-1) to a 20-7 win over Johnsonburg (3-2) in a key midseason AML South game Friday night at Brockway.

The Rovers jumped out to a 12-0 lead on touchdowns by Sickeri and Benji Martini before Francis Jovenitti got the Rams back in the game with a touchdown with less than a minutes to go in the first half. Jovenitti’s score made the game 12-7 Brockway at halftime.

The game remained 12-7 until there was a 1:27 left in the game. That is when Tom Bussard put the game away with a 7-yard touchdown run.

John Himes went 2-for-5 passing for 37 yards and a touchdown for Brockway with Benji Martini catching one pass for 27 yards and a score.

Jovenitti led the Rams with 16 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown, as the Brockway defense limited Johnsonburg to only 112 yards on the night including only 62 yards rushing on 31 carries.

KARNS CITY ALL OVER MONITEAU

WEST SUNBURY – Brian Hilderbrand scored three touchdowns to lead Karns City (5-0) to a 41-0 win over Moniteau (2-3) in KSAC action Friday night.

Hilderbrand scored on a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown and a 35-yard interceptions return for a touchdown before Karns City’s offense ever took the field giving the Gremlin a 13-0 lead.

He later caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Erik Fuhrer as Karns City scored all 41 of its points in the first half.

Hilderbrand ended the game with two catches for 51 yards while Fuhrer was 6-for-13 passing for 122 yards and three touchdowns.

CURWENSVILLE OUTSCORES YOUNGSVILLE 34-20

YOUNGSVILLE – Joe Bennett rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries to lead Curwensville (4-1) to a 34-20 win over Youngsville (2-3) in an interdivisional AML match-up Friday night at Youngsville.

The Golden Tide led just 14-6 at halftime but outscored Youngsville 14-6 in the third quarter to build a 28-12 lead after three quarters of play.

Ryan Bilger added 18 rushes for 96 yards for the Golden Tide.

Curwensville’s defense held Youngsville to only 96 yards of total offense, but an 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jamie Blum helped keep Youngsville in the game.

Jesse Walters led Youngsville going 6-for-19 for 66 yards and a touchdown while also throwing and interception. In addition to his kickoff return, Blum also rushed for 51 yards on four carries.

McDOWELL POUNDS DUBOIS

DUBOIS – Erie McDowell improved to 5-0 with a 34-7 win over DuBois (3-2) in non-conference action Friday night at DuBois.

Ryan Sherwood-Ericsson did most of the damage against the Beavers running 17 times for 199 yards and three touchdowns while also going 1-for-1 passing for 21 yards and a touchdown.

McDowell opened up a 27-0 halftime lead and led 34-0 before DuBois got its lone touchdown on a run by Derek Marshall.

Marshall led the Beavers gaining 118 of the team’s 213 total yards on 21 carries while scoring the touchdown.

GROVE CITY SHUTS OUT BROOKVILLE

BROOKVILLE – Grove City (1-4) got its first win of the year with a 38-0 win over Brookville (0-5) in non-conference action between two teams looking for their first win Friday at Brookville.

The homecoming crowd went home disappointed after Josh Pratt accounted for three Fighting Eagle touchdowns.

Pratt rushed eight times for 83 yards and one touchdown, caught two passes for 14 yards and a touchdown and went 1-for-1 passing for 12 yards and another touchdown.

Mike Bashin went 4-for-12 passing for 41 yards and two touchdowns for Grove City, while Justin Robinson added eight carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns.

Jeremy Fleming led Brookville with 12 carries for 51 yards and three catches for 14 yards, while quarterback Cole Cook was 10-for-25 for 61 yards passing. Keith Richards was the Blue Raiders leading receiver with five catches for 45 yards.

SLIPPERY ROCK GETS FIRST WIN

SLIPPERY ROCK – In another battle between teams looking for their first win of the season, Slippery Rock got a 56-6 win over Union Friday night at Slippery Rock.

Travis Sarver rushed 19 times for 94 yards and two touchdowns to lead Slippery Rock, while Luke McCaffrey ran eight times for 67 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing a touchdown pass.

Seth Stewart caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Brian Lipps for Union’s lone score.

It was the second straight week Union allowed 50 or more points.
