EISENHOWER GETS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

RUSSELL – Eisenhower (1-5) picked up its first win of the season with a 20-0 win over Port Allegany (1-5) Friday night at Eisenhower in AML North action.

The Knights got two touchdown catches from Ryan Irwin and an interception return for a touchdown by Aaron Rodgers to get the win.

Irwin finished the game with five catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns, while Rodgers had two interceptions one which he returned 66 yards for a touchdown and another one which he returned 71 yards to set up another score.

Jacoby Curtis was 5-for-12 passing for 69 yards and a touchdown, and Bart Moon was 3-for-4 for 37 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Knights.

Curtis also led the ground game with 48 yards rushing on 15 carries, while Tom Kibbey had eight rushes for 36 yards. 

DUBOIS’ MARSHALL SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN WIN OVER ST. MARYS

DuBOIS - DuBois' Derek Marshall ran for a school record 345 yards on 44 carries and scored four touchdowns in the Beavers 28-7 win over St. Marys Friday in D9 League action at DuBois.

The record was previously held by his brother Justin, who rushed for 339 yards against Bradford in 1998.

Marshall scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter, on runs of five yards and 50 yards in the second quarter and on a run of 6 yards in the third quarter to stake the Beavers out to a 28-0 lead.

St. Marys’ lone score came on a 46-yard pass from Brandon Bennett to Ton Kopp with 6:11 left in the game.

DuBois’ defense held St. Marys running back Dan Fox, who entered the game second in District 9 with 722 yards to only 21 yards rushing on six carries.

Josh Schatz led the Dutchmen running attack with eight carries for 40 yards, while Bennett was 4-for-12 passing for 94 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Kopp was the lone St. Marys’ receiver with four catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.

BROCKWAY SHOWS DEPTH; USES STRONG DEFENSE TO ROUT OTTO-ELDRED

DUKE CENTER – Despite playing without its top two rushers, Jeremy Sickeri and Jon Cantafio who were out with injuries, visiting Brockway ran all over Otto-Eldred in a 38-0 win Friday night in AML interdivisional action.

The Rovers racked up 308 total yards including 250 on the ground while holding the Terrors to seven total yards n the game including negative five rushing on 23 carries.

With the win Brockway remains in a first-place tie with Curwensville in the AML South with the two teams scheduled to meet Friday night at Brockway (7:30 p.m. kickoff).

Tom Bussard was the top rusher for the Rovers with 14 carries for 96 yards and one touchdown. Trenton Marnati added 10 carries for 75 yards, and Seth Rhed contributed 10 totes for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback John Himes was 3-for-9 passing for 58 yards, but he did throw three interceptions. Rich Kolash caught all three passes for the 58 yards.

RIDGWAY WINS A WILD-AND-WOOLY AFFAIR WITH JOHNSONBURG

JOHNSONBURG – Ridgway continued to surge defeating reeling Johnsonburg 29-27 in an AML South match-up Friday night at Johnsonburg.

The Elkers, who have won two in a row are now 3-3 one the season, while the Rams have dropped two straight after starting the year a promising 3-1.

Johnsonburg lost despite outgaining Ridgway 368 yards to 230 and scoring the same number of touchdowns (four) because the Elkers were able to convert all of their point(s) after touchdown plays, while the Rams were only 2-for-4 in PAT attempts.

Ridgway’s Jon Fleming made all three of his extra points, and Jesse DePanfilis ran for a two-point conversion giving the Elkers the 29 points. Johnsonburg, meanwhile, missed two two-point conversion attempts, made one and got an extra point from Adam Chadwick.

As one might expect in such a close game, the game was back-and-forth throughout.

Ridgway quickly jumped out to a 15-0 lead thanks to a 7-yard pass from Andy Kelly to DePanfilis in the first quarter and a 1-yard run by Dustin Dickant with 7:15 left in the first half.

Johnsonburg, though, responded with a 4-yard run by Francis Jovenitti with 5:40 left in the first half to cut Ridgway’s lead to 15-6 at halftime.

The Elkers upped the lead to 22-6 with a 2-yard run by Dickant with 7:36 left in the third quarter, but Johnsonburg got the next two scores to close the gap to 22-20 at the end of the third quarter.

The first Ram touchdown in the second half came on a 36-yard pass from Francis Iorfido to Jason Durian with 5:50 left in the quarter. Jovenitti then scored his second touchdown of the game as time ran out in the third quarter to bring the Rams to within two points. Ridgway made sure that is were the score stood sacking Iorfido on the two-point conversion attempt.

Brandon Steger then gave the Elkers some breathing room with a 2-yard run with 2:18 seconds left to up the Ridgway lead to 29-20.

Johnsonburg wasn’t done, though, scoring a final touchdown on a 26-yard pass from Francis Iorfido to Eric Iorfido with 49 seconds left in the game. 

CLARION-LIMESTONE SCORED 34 SECOND QUARTER POINTS IN 51-0 WIN OVER UNION

RIMERSBURG – Clarion-Limestone scored 34 unanswered second quarter points on its way to a 51-0 win over Union Friday night in KSAC action at Union.

The Lions (5-1) led 14-0 going to the second quarter thanks to a 12-yard touchdown run by freshman quarterback Hayden Johnston following a 47-yard punt return by Chad Conti and a 64-yard touchdown pass from J.J. Ferguson to Conti.

Then in the second quarter C-L scored fast and furious.

Brendan Huwar got the scoring in the quarter started with a 4-yard touchdown run. Then Ferguson hit Alderton with a 24-yard pass giving the Lions a 28-0 lead.

Moments later, Johnston scored his second touchdown of the game on an 8-yard run which Alderton followed up with a 39-yard burst. Ferguson then hit Alderton with a 47-yard touchdown pass giving the Lions a 48-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, C-L ran a lot of its reserves with Cam Speer, Nate Tote and Tyler Martz combining to carry the football 21 times in the half. The Lions lone score in the second half came on a 32-yard field goal by Rocky Davis.

Ferguson finished the night 4-for-6 for 149 yards and three touchdowns with Alderton catching three passes for 85 yards and two scores. Alderton also rushed the ball four times for 47 yards and a touchdown, while Johnston had three rushes for 22 yards and two touchdowns.

GRAHAM; KARNS CITY RUN OVER A-C VALLEY

KARNS CITY – Bill Graham ran for four touchdowns and 199 yards to lead Karns City to a 50-6 win over A-C Valley in a KSAC match-up Friday night at Karns City.

Graham’s big night helped the Gremlins (6-0 overall, 6-0 KSAC)) race out to a 44-0 halftime lead on their way to the win.

A-C Valley (1-5 overall, 1-4 KSAC) finally got on the scoreboard in the second half on a 38-yard scoring pass from Mike Stewart to Randy Merwin.

MONITEAU HOLDS OFF REDBANK VALLEY

NEW BETHLEHEM – Moniteau stopped a Redbank Valley drive inside the 10-yard line late in the game on a fourth-and-goal holding off the Bulldogs 20-15 in KSAC action Friday night at Redbank Valley.

The Warriors (3-3 overall, 3-3 KSAC) jumped on top of Redbank Valley (2-3, 2-4) 20-6 at halftime and then held off a Bulldog comeback try to get the win.

Ryan Rumbaugh, filling in for the injured Bill Staab, led the way for the Warriors rushing 25 times for 78 yards and a touchdown, while Cody Jones returned a partially blocked punt 30 yards for a touchdown and Heath Schreffler hit Pat Rumbaugh with a 30-yard touchdown pass.

Ron Geist ran 20 times for 155 yards and scored on runs of 87 yards and five yards to pace the Bulldogs.
