HOLLIDAYSBURG 28, DUBOIS 20

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Hollidaysburg (3-5) rallied from a 14-7 halftime deficit to gain a 28-20 win over DuBois (5-3) in a non-league game Friday night at Hollidaysburg.

The Golden Tigers tied the game at 14 on a 63-yard run by Gifford Piper with 7:07 left in the third quarter.

Hollidaysburg then took their first lead since the first quarter on a 30-yard run by Piper with 6:37 left in the game. A 32-yard interception return for a score by Nick Sefchok with 5:53 left gave the Golden Tigers a 28-14 lead.

DuBois got a late touchdown from Josh Campbell on a 56-yard pass from Chad Hilliard, but that was all the Beavers could manage.

Campbell led DuBois with 16 carries for 145 yards and one touchdown and two catches for 62 yards and one touchdown.

Derek Marshall, the second leading rusher in District 9, was held to 90 yards rushing on 16 carries.

Hilliard was 6-for-14 passing for 136 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions.

Piper led Hollidaysburg with 15 carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

BROCKWAY 21, CAMERON COUNTY 7

EMPORIUM – Brockway outgained Cameron County 339 yards to 178 yards, and that yardage differential was evident on the scoreboard as well with the visit9ing Rovers (6-2) getting a 21-7 win over the Red Raiders (4-4) Friday night.

Cameron scored first on a 4-yard run by Gary Clark with 11:36 left in the first half, but Brockway tied the game at seven at halftime on a 25-yard pass form John Himes to Rich Kolash with 1:33 left.

Brockway then took its first lead on a 19-yard run by Himes with 2:50 left in the third quarter, and Jon Cantafio gave the Rovers breathing room with a 13-yard run with 4:22 left in the game.

Cantafio led Brockway’s running game with 18 carries for 77 yards, while Jeremy Sickeri added 65 yards on 16 carries. Himes was 6-for-13 passing for 93 yards and one touchdowns, with Sickeri catching twp passes for 53 yards and Kolash three for 42 yards.

Clark led Cameron with seven carries for 29 yards, while Scott Horning had 11 carries for 26 yards. Gideon Hornung was 8-fro-24 passing for 121 yards, but he also threw three interceptions. Scott Aikens had two catches for 93 yards, while Clark had three catches for 18 yards.

Sickeri had two interceptions for the Brockway defense.

CURWENSVILLE 45, KANE 11

CURWENSVILLE – Joe Bennett rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries and added one catch for 17 yards and a score to lead Curwensville (7-1) to its sixth straight win, a 45-11 decision over Kane, Friday night at Curwensville.

The Golden Tide, whose only loss came by one-point in overtime to Ridgway in Week Two, raced out to a 19-3 halftime lead before taking a 38-3 lead at the end of three quarters.

Kane took an early 3-0 lead on a Jared Cecchetti field goal, but a 68-yard run by Bennett gave the Golden Tide a 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

A 10-yard run by Bennett with 10:53 left in the first half gave Curwensville a 13-3 lead, and a 12-yard pass from Jim Thompson to Mark Records gave the Golden Tide a 19-3 halftime lead.

A 45-yard run by Bennett, and a 17-yyard pass from Thompson to Bennett gave Curwensville a 32-3 lead with 4:36 left in the third quarter. Brooks Collins then added six more points to the Golden Tide lead with a 15-yard run late in the third quarter, and Keegan Park’s 6-yard scoring run with 6:11 left in the game gave Curwensville a 45-3 lead.

A 3-yard run by Tyler Smith with 13 seconds left in the game accounted for the final score.

Prisk added 64 yards on 10 carries for Curwensville, while Collins had 54 yards on six carries. Thompson was 5-for-8 passing for 75 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Records had four catches for 58 yards.

Smith was 8-for-26 passing for Kane for 122 yards and two interceptions. Mike Jamerson had thee catches for 62 yards.

Curwensville’s defense held Kane to 14 yards rushing on 18 carries, as Curwensville outgained Kane 436 yards to 136 yards.

RIDGWAY 43, PORT ALLEGANY 13

PORT ALLEGANY – Ridgway (5-3) scored 29 unanswered second-half point to break open a 14-13 halftime edge and get a 43-13 win over Port Allegany (2-6) Saturday at Port Allegany.

Six different Elkers scored, and Ridgway used its kicker Jon "Bubba" Fleming to pin the Gators deep all day long.

Ridgway took an early 14-0 lead on a 6-yard run by Ryan Mitchell and a 78-yard punt return by Ben Buck.

But Port Allegany answered back on a 44-yard interceptions return for a touchdown by Joe Hardes and a 21-yard run by Adam Rohrer to cut the Elkers lead to 14-13 at halftime.

Ridgway, though, started to pull away in the third quarter thanks to a 5-yard run by Brandon Steger and a 3-yard run by Dustin Dickant.

Then in the fourth quarter the Elkers put the game away on a 4-yard pass from Andy Kelly to Jesse DePanfilis and a 1-yard run by Dave Bundy.

Fleming was 5-for-5 on extra point for Ridgway while putting three kickoff into the end zone and two others inside the 4-yard line. He also put three punts inside the 12-yard line helping the Elkers win the field position battle.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 12, JOHNSONBURG 0

ST. MARYS – Elk County Catholic (4-4) scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to get a 12-0 win over Johnsonburg (3-5) Saturday night in St. Marys.

After playing three scoreless quarters, ECC got on the scoreboard on a 20-yard run by Craig Timm with 10:01 left in the game.

Timm then gave the Crusaders some breathing room when he caught a 10-yard pass from Robert Pearsall with 1:03 left to play.

Timm led the ECC offense with 16 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown and two catches for 16 yards and a score. Pearsall was 7-for-11 passing for 101 yards and a score. Joe Urmann had three grabs for 53 yards, while Todd Silifies had two for 30.

Francis Jovenitti had 23 carries for 81 yards for Johnsonburg, while sophomore quarterback Greg Wonderly playing for the injured Francis Iorfido was 10-for-22 passing for 95 yards and one interception. Jovenitti had six carries for 35 yards.

SHEFFIELD 44, OTTO-ELDRED 6

SHEFFIELD – Sheffield (5-3) got two touchdowns from Earl Holt to beat Otto-Eldred (0-8) 44-6 Saturday afternoon at Sheffield.

Holt scored on runs of 35 and 15 yards to lead the Wolverines to the win.

Vince Werner added a touchdown run and two interceptions for Sheffield.

Otto, which was tied 6-6 in the second quarter before allowing 38 unanswered points, got its touchdown on an 11-yard run by Josh Barnish. 

CLARION-LIMESTONE 42, MONITEAU 6

WEST SUNBURY – Clarion-Limestone locked up its ninth District 9 Class A playoff berth in the past 12 seasons with a 42-6 win over homestanding Moniteau Friday night at Moniteau.

The Lions (7-1 overall, 6-1 KSAC) unveiled a passing attack against the Warriors with J.J. Ferguson going 9-for-12 for 227 yards and three touchdowns.

Chad Conti was the top receiver for the Lions with three catches for 100 yards including a 61-yard scoring strike and a 24-yard scoring pass, while Dan Alderton added four catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. Alderton also added a rushing touchdown for the Lions, who also got scored from Ben Brooks and Brendan Huwar.

Brooks led the Lions rushing attack with 11 carries for 64 yards.

KARNS CITY 77, UNION 14

RIMERSBURG –Billy Graham rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and returned a kickoff 80 yards for another score helping Karns City to a 77-14 pasting of Union in KSAC action Friday night at Union.

Quarterback Erik Fuhrer added 190 yards passing and a touchdown while going 11-for-22 passing, with Brian Hilderbrand catching four passes for 100 yards while also adding a touchdown run. Ian Ferguson and Matt Carnahan each added two scores for Karns City. Ferguson scored on an 85-yard kickoff return and a 20-yard run, while Carnahan scored on runs of 44 and 9 yards.

Karns City led 36-6 at the end of the first quarter and 56-6 at halftime before adding its final 21 points in the third quarter.

Union scored on a 95-yard touchdown pass from Zach Toven to Seth Stewart and a 90-yard kickoff return by Devon Kriebel.

CARMICHAELS 43, WEST SHAMOKIN 6

CARMICHAELS – Jono Menhart went 7-for-12 passing for 176 yards and three touchdowns and added 112 yards rushing a score to lead Carmichaels (7-1) to a 43-6 win over West Shamokin (2-5) Friday night at Carmichaels.

Colby Giles scored four touchdowns, including three on catches, to help the Mighty Mikes to the win. Giles had six catches for 163 yards and also added 77 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Bill Fulton led West Shamokin with 90 yards rushing and a touchdown on 17 carries.
