CLEARFIELD'S KASPICK TO PLAY IN PSFCA EAST-WEST ALL-STAR FOOTBALL GAME

 

ALTOONA – Clearfield senior wide receiver/defensive back Brian Kaspick will represent District 9 at the first ever PSFCA (Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coach's Association) East-West All-Star game to be held at 7 p.m. June 30 at Altoona’s Mansion Park Stadium.

Kaspick, who is 5-11, 172 pounds, helped Clearfield to an 7-3 record including an 4-1 mark in the D9League, which helped the Bison claim a share of the league title. Clearfield was also the District 9 Class AAA runners-up falling to Bradford 48-14 in the championship game.

For Kaspick's part, he had 22 catches for 536 yards (24.4 per catch) and eight touchdowns. He also had 17 rushes for 159 yards (9.4 per carry) and one touchdown. He also had three interceptions on defense.

Kaspick. who played for Tim Janocko at Clearfield, will continue his career at Lycoming College.

The game, which will pit high school seniors from the eastern half of the state against high school seniors from the western half of the state, is being organized by the Allegheny Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau in partnership with the Altoona Area School District, the Pennsylvania Football News and the PSFCA.

Coaches will arrive in Altoona June 22 with the players coming in June 23. The players will stay with host families throughout the week of the game, and numerous special events will be scheduled at many Blair County attractions.

The teams will practice Monday through Friday the week prior to the game, and Friday June 29 there will be several workshops at the Blair County Convention Center including a clinic for coaches, a rules interpretation clinic for official and an "Arm Chair Expert Clinic" for fans who would like to learn some of the finer points of football.

Also, Friday evening at the Convention Center there will be an awards banquet which will be attended by coaches, players, corporate sponsors, PSFCA All-Star Game partners and host families. The events, which will also be opened to the public, will feature the presentation of at least four $1,000 scholarships to the high schools of the outstanding players from each team.

After the game Saturday, both teams will have a pizza party at the Convention Center.

The Altoona Area School District will assist both team with the organization of the entire event schedule including practices and the playing of the game.
