THREE D9 TEAMS RECOGNIZED IN PRESEASON PA FOOTBALL NEWS STATEWIDE RANKINGS

REVLOC – Two District 9 teams are in the top 10 in their respective classifications and one D9 team is honorable mention in the preseason Pennsylvania Football News statewide football rankings that were released in this week’s PFN.

All three teams are from the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference and include Karns City, Clarion Area and Clarion-Limestone.

Karns City is ranked seventh in Class AA, Clarion is ranked ninth in Class A, and C-L is an honorable mention selection in Class A.

Karns City, the defending District 9 Class AA champions, finished with a 9-3 overall record in 2000. The Gremlins were eliminated in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs by Sharon 14-6.

Clarion, the two-time defending KSAC champions, have been the bridesmaids in District 9 Class A the last two seasons. Last year Clarion went 10-1 with the Bobcats only loss coming to Curwensville 23-0 in the District 9 championship game.

Clarion-Limestone is coming off a 7-3 season that included an appearance in the District 9 Class A playoffs where the Lions fell to eventual champion Curwensville 40-7 in the opening round.

All three teams start their seasons Friday night with Clarion hosting St. Marys at 7 p.m. and Karns City visiting Clarion-Limestone at 7:30 p.m. The Karns City-C-L game will be available locally on C-93, 92.7 FM in Clarion.
