ANDERSON'S FOUR TD'S LEADS PORT ALLEGANY PAST RIDGWAY

RIDGWAY – Cody Anderson rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries while adding a two-point conversion run and an interception on defense to lead Port Allegany to a 28-15 win over Ridgway in the season opener for both teams Friday night at Ridgway.

Anderson scored on runs of eight and 32 yards in the first quarter then added a 21-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter and a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Sarginger had a big game for Ridgway with a 75-yard touchdown run and a 78-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Port Allegany drew first blood on an 8-yard run by Anderson in the first quarter capping a 12-play, 66-yard drive.

Sarginger quickly tied the game at six taking the first play after the ensuing kickoff 75 yards to the house.

Anderson gave Port Allegany the lead for good with a 32-yard run that capped a 5-play, 48-yard drive giving the Gators a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Anderson’s 21-yard run in the second quarter capping a 4-play, 51-yard drive ended with his two-point conversion run that made the score 21-6.

Ridgway cut the lead to 21-9 at halftime on a 29-yard field goal by Nick Thompson.

The game remained 21-9 into the fourth quarter when Anderson ended an 8-play, 68-yard drive with a 1-yard run making it 28-9.

Ridgway ended the scoring when Sarginger returned the kickoff following the touchdown 78 yards for a score.

Port Allegany outgained Ridgway 349-289 including 272-188 on the ground.

Anderson added 28 yards receiving for Port Allegany, while Robert Nichols had 54 yards rushing. Willie Bova was 6-for-14 passing for 77 yards and two interceptions.

On defense, Sam Kephart had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery, while Brian Neal had 11 tackles.

Sarginger led Ridgway with 10 carries for 125 yards and four catches for 45 yards, while Beau Iorfido added 11 carries for 68 yards and one catch for 32 yards, while Sarginger added nine totes for 50 yards and four catches for 45 yards. Kyle Hubber was 6-for-13 passing for 101 yards while tossing two interceptions.
