DUBOIS 33, ALTOONA 25

ALTOONA – For the first time in 14 years DuBois won at Altoona. The Beavers, who last won at Mansion Park in 1990, beat Altoona 33-25 Friday night.

DuBois (6-3), which led 15-11 at halftime, trailed 25-23 at the end of the third quarter but retook the lead on a 25-yard Gabe Bowley field goal with 9:54 left. Mike Stewart’s 42-yard run with 4:32 to play put the game away.

Altoona took an 8-0 lead at the end of the first on 1-yard Adam Waddell run with 6:03 left.

DuBois got to within 8-7 on a 20-yard fumble recovery by Vance Newell.

Altoona expanded the lead to 11-7 on 23-yard Arin Noonan field goal with 3:34 left in the half.

DuBois then took the lead at halftime on a 8-yard pass from Joe Wanson to Brandon Wagner with two seconds left in the half.

Altoona, 1:09 into the second half, took the lead back at 17-15 on a 49-yard pass from Adam Waddell to Maurice Bullett.

DuBois forged ahead 23-17 on a 20-yard strike from Wanson to Derrick Bundy with 7:01 left in the quarter before Altoona took the 25-23 lead on a 4-yard Chris Koch run and Koch 2-point run with five seconds left in the quarter.

Altoona outgained DuBois 270-198 but turned the ball over four times to just two for the Beavers.

Stewart had 16 carries for 76 yards, and Wanson was 5-for-8 passing for 44 yards and two scores.

Koch led Altoona with 15 carries for 95 yards, while Waddell was 5-for-16 for 104 yards.

BROCKWAY 34, OTTO-ELDRED 21

DUKE CENTER – For the second time in three weeks Brockway made the journey north to Duke Center and came away with a win over Otto-Eldred.

Last time Brockway (8-1) toppled the Terrors (3-6) 29-7. This time it was 34-21, although Brockway held a commanding 28-9 lead deep in the third quarter.

The game was 8-3 Rovers after one quarter with Otto getting a 25-yard Eric Freer field goal and Brockway answering with a 4-yard Bobby Liddle run and a Liddle 2-point conversion.

The Rovers made it 21-3 on a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jordan Hoover and a 8-yard run by Matt Foradora before Otto cut the gap late in the half.

In the third quarter Brockway scored on a 3-yard Liddle run and Otto on a 45-yard Ryan Little run.

The fourth quarter saw Brockway’s Ben Donlin score on a 1-yard run and Otto’s Virgil Graham reach the end zone on a 3-yard run.

Donlin ran 17 times for 127 yards for Brockway, while Liddle had 11 carries for 60 yards.

Graham ran 15 times for 33 yards and caught four passes for 24 yards, while Dan Terrette was 8-for-14 passing for 83 yards.

CLEARFIELD 41, PUNXSUTAWNEY 14

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield (9-0 overall, 5-0 MACSMD) finished an unbeaten regular season with a 41-14 win over Punxsutawney (2-7, 2-3) Friday night at Clearfield.

Josh Harbold ran 16 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns and returned a punt 55 yards for a score to lead Clearfield scoring on runs of 28, 39 and 42 yards.

Lucas Aughenbaugh scored on a 3-yard run and William Bacharach on a 60-yard run as time ran out for the other Clearfield scores.

Dustin Dubensky ran for 56 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 111 to lead Punxsutawney.

RIDGWAY 41, CAMERON COUNTY 14

EMPORIUM – Ridgway (2-7) got two touchdown runs from Beau Iorfido (15, 68 yards) and two touchdown passes from Kyle Huber to Kevin Sarginger (45, 48 yards) to defeat Cameron County (0-9) 41-14 Friday night at Cameron County.

Huber also threw a touchdown pass to Jeremy Shirey and Zack Pontious scored on an 85-yard run for Ridgway’s other two scores.

Cameron got touchdowns runs of 4 and 52 yards from Zach McManigle for its two scores.

Pontious ran seven times for 105 yards and Iorfido two for 102 to lead Ridgway. Sarginger had three catches for 104 yards and added five carries for 44 yards. Huber was 6-for-9 passing for 130 yards and three scores.

McManigle, a senior getting his first carries of the season, led Cameron with 30 carries for 176 yards.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 28, ST. MARYS 12

ST. MARYS – Philipsburg-Osceola gout touchdown runs from four different players to beat St. Marys (1-7) 28-12 Friday night at St. Marys.

Ryan Mostyn’s 4-yard run in the first quarter gave the Mounties a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and Jeff Winters made it 14-0 on a 1-yard run early in the second quarter.

Scott Schatz made it 14-6 catching a 5-yard scoring pass from Bryan Dempsey with 3:41 left in the half, but a 2-yard run by Trevor Emigh made it 21-7 at halftime.

Elliott Davis made it 28-7 on a 19-yard run with 4:11 to go in the third quarter before Shad Boschert caught an 11-yard pass from Dempsey with 7:15 to play in the game.

Mostyn led P-O with 16 carries for 79 yards, while Winters added 73 on 10 totes. Winters also was 2-7 passing for 77 yards.

Adam Geer ran 20 times for 86 yards and Schatz seven for 46 yards for St. Marys. Dempsey was 8-for-13 passing for 54 yards, two scores and an interception. Steve Gaul caught three passes for 59 yards.

SHEFFIELD 29, JOHNSONBURG 0

SHEFFIELD – Sheffield (3-6) scored three defensive touchdowns, and Johnsonburg lost its quarterback and another running back helping the Wolverines to a 29-0 win at Sheffield Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Rams (3-6) elected not to enter the District 9 Class A Playoffs.

Sheffield got the scoring started on a 9-yard Steve Sixt run.

Scott Lazor then returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown staking the Wolverines to a 14-0 halftime lead.

Then in the second half, Dave Vargas returned an interception 45 yards for a score and Stephen Page picked up a fumble and went 17 yards for a touchdown.

Jeremy Borst was 7-for-16 passing for 90 yards for Sheffield with Todd Guyaux catching three passes for 38 yards and Sixt two for 35. Sixt carried the ball 12 times for 43 yards.

Johnsonburg was led by Imbrogno’s nine carries for 37 yards and 26 yards passing, but he threw four interceptions.

Vargas had two interceptions for Sheffield, while T.J. Costanzo had two sacks for Johnsonburg.

PORT ALLEGANY 14, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 0

PORT ALLEGANY – Port Allegany (6-3) secured the No. 5 seed in the District 9 Class A playoffs with a 14-0 win over visiting Elk County Catholic (5-4) Saturday at Port Allegany.

The Gators will play at Clarion at 7 p.m. Saturday in the D9 Class A playoffs, while ECC, the no. 7 seed, plays at Clarion-Limestone at 7 p.m. Friday night.

Cody Anderson scored both touchdowns for Port Allegany and ran 33 times for 183 yards.

Chris Zampogna ran five times for 45 yards to lead ECC which also got 79 yards passing from Kyle Mahoney with A.J. Seelye catching three passes for 77 yards.

KARNS CITY 63, UNION 7

KARNS CITY – Josh Fiscus ran for three touchdowns and Stephen Black threw for two scores and ran for a third to lead Karns City (5-4 overall, 4-3 KSAC) to a 63-7 win over Union (0-9, 0-7) in the regular-season finale for both teams Friday night at Karns City.

Karns City now enters the District 9 playoffs where it will play at Redbank Valley at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. Union finishes its season, and the Golden Knights have lost 20 in a row dating back to the 2002 season, although this year’s squad was very young and showed signs of improvement as the season wore on.

Fiscus, who finished the night with 186 yards on 16 carries, scored on runs of 2, 7 and 19 yards helping Karns City build a 42-0 halftime lead.

Stephen Black threw first-half touchdowns of 14 yards to brother David and 17 yards to Justin Switzer while adding an 8-yard run early in the third quarter.

Wayne Harris accounted for the Gremlins other first-half score with a 26-yarde run, while Brett Green scored on a 21-yard scamper and Mitch Deitz on an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Nate Carmichael had Union’s lone score returning an interception 70 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

CLARION 13, A-C VALLEY 0

FOXBURG – Clarion (7-2 overall, 6-1 KSAC) scored two second-quarter touchdowns and then played solid defense to hold off A-C Valley (3-6, 1-6) 13-0 Friday night at A-C Valley.

The Bobcats win coupled with a Clarion-Limestone loss helped secure a tie for the KSAC title for Clarion, its first KSAC crown since 2000. The KSAC has no tiebreaker.

Both of Clarion’s touchdowns came through the air with Sean Wolf hitting Chris McSwain with a 20-yard score with 7:27 left in the opening half and Manny Carpin scoring on a 10-yard pass with 43 seconds remaining.

Wolf was 7-for-15 passing for 83 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. McSwain ran 24 times for 104 yards and caught two passes for 24 yards. Carpin had five catches for 59 yards and added eight runs for 49.

Luiz Goncalves ran 14 times for 56 yards, caught one pass for 42 yards and was 3-for-9 passing for five yards to lead A-C Valley.

GROVE CITY 28, BROOKVILLE 0

GROVE CITY – Jack Vallely ran 15 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns to lead Grove City to a 28-0 win over visiting Brookville (3-6) Friday night.

Despite the loss, the Raiders will go to the District 9 Class AA playoffs and play at Moniteau this weekend.

Vallely twice scored on 2-yard runs with the Eagles sandwiching two scores in-between Vallely’s runs.

Dan Wise scored on a 2-yard run, and Jim Jaskowak hit Jesse Alfreno with a 73-yard pass for Grove City’s other two scores.

Jaskowak was 4-for-7 passing for 93 yards for Grove City with Alfreno catching two passes for 76 yards.

Travis Diener led Brookville with 15 totes for 66 yards, while Nick Heschke was 6-for-12 passing for 31 yards and two interceptions.

REDBANK VALLEY 35, KEYSTONE 6

NEW BETHLEHEM – Redbank Valley (6-3, 5-2) bounced back from its disappointing overtime loss to Clarion-Limestone to get a 35-6 win over visiting Keystone (2-7, 2-5) Friday night.

The Bulldogs now enter the District 9 Class AA playoffs and will host Karns City at 7 p.m. Nov. 12.

Brandon Johnston had a huge night for Redbank Valley rushing seven times for 224 yards and three touchdowns scoring on runs of 68, 33 and 64 yards.

Skyler Smith added 15 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown, while Bryce Miller had six carries for 43 yards and a score.

Keystone’s lone score came on a 17-yard scoring pass from Mike Switzer to Kyle McMunn.

Switzer was 5-for-16 passing for 62 yards with McMunn catching four passes for 60 yards. Sam Swartzfager ran 25 times for 127 yards and made six tackles on defense. Dan Irwin had 10 tackles.
