ECC; PORT ALLEGANY COULD WRAP-UP D9 CLASS A PLAYOFF BERTHS IN WEEK SEVEN

Unofficial District 9 Class A Playoff Standings

Two more District 9 Class A teams can clinch playoff berths in Week Seven.

Elk County Catholic (4-2) can wrap up a postseason berth with a win at home over Sheffield Friday night and a loss by Johnsonburg (2-4), while Port Allegany (4-2) can clinch a spot with a win at Curwensville Friday and a loss by Johnsonburg (2-4) at Smethport Friday.

Four teams have already clinched playoff spots including Clarion-Limestone (6-0), Coudersport (6-0), Curwensville (6-0) and Clarion (5-1).

Clarion-Limestone to wrap-up one of the top two seeds by claiming the No. 1 seed from the KSAC with a win over Union and a Clarion loss to Clearfield Friday night. If that happens, the best Clarion could finish is 7-2 and the worst C-L could finish is 7-2. The Lions hold the head-to-head tiebreaker thanks to a 28-12 win Friday night.

Three teams could also be eliminated from the playoff hunt Friday night.

Wins by Otto-Eldred (vs. Brockway) and Smethport would eliminate Cameron County, Union and Kane. Any one of those three teams would also be eliminated with a loss Friday. Cameron County is at Kane and Union is at C-L.
