STRATTANVILLE – After a hard-fought victory over Clarion last week, the Moniteau Warriors had an easier battle with a 47-0 victory over the Clarion-Limestone Lions Friday night.

Moniteau (2-0 overall, 2-0 KSAC) led 18-0 at the end of the first quarter and 32-0 at the half.

The Warriors got on the board early in the opening quarter after C-L (0-2, 0-2) fumbled the opening kickoff with Moniteau recovering at the Lions 25-yard line.

Six plays later, Tyler Armagost scored from one yard out to five the Warriors a 6-0 lead after the extra point sailed right.

After the Lions went four-and-out on their next possession, the Warriors struck again on a 34-yard touchdown run by James Shope for a 12-0 lead.

The score would remain that way until the 1:34 mark of the first quarter when Justin Sanderson scored from three yards out to cap a 5- play, 31-yard drive to push the lead to 18.

The second quarter was pretty much the same, as Moniteau scored two more touchdowns on the ground – one from Austin Hogsett and one from Shope – to increase their halftime lead to 32-0.

Moniteau received the second-half kickoff, and back-up quarterback Tony Campbell engineered a 6-play, 53-yard drive capped off by a 9-yard touchdown run by Sanderson.

The Warriors then closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter as Jeffrey McFadden scored on a 2-yard jaunt to set the final score at 47-0.

Moniteau outgained CL 330-14 in total offense including a 258 – negative 52 on the ground.

Leading the way for Moniteau was Armagost who threw for 72 yards and ran for another nine including a touchdown in just one half of playing time.  Shope was the Warriors leading rusher with 56 yards on eight carries and Sanderson added 49 yards

Dan Miller led the way for C-L with 66 yards on five completions.

Moniteau will host Punxsutawney next week, and the Lions will entertain AC Valley.
