By Rich Rhoades BROOKVILLE — Alex Bladel scored three touchdowns, including one on a 4-yard run in overtime to lift Redbank Valley to a 19-13 win at Brookville Friday night. Bladel rushed for 129 yards on 24 carries and scored on two 1-yard runs in the first half. The senior Bulldogs back had to work for most of his yards the hard way as he gained 51 of his yards on just two carries during the opening drive of the game that produced the first touchdown. The Raiders had their turn first from the 10-yard line in overtime. After a Cayliff Worling 5-yard run, Kyle Galbraith was hit and fumbled. The ball was recovered by Shiloh Buchleitner, ending the Raiders’ possession. It took just two Bladel runs, the first a 6-yarder and the second scoring from four yards out to end the game, giving the Bulldogs their first overtime win since beating Keystone in the final week of the 2003 regular season, 35-34. The Bulldogs last played an overtime game in a 42-41 loss to Clarion-Limestone in 2004. For Brookville, the Raiders hadn’t played in extra time since beating Karns City in the 1998 Class AA playoff semifinals. It was the fifth overtime contest in which the Raiders have been involved and their first, a double-overtime loss to DuBois in Week 3 of the 1996 season, was their only OT loss. Brookville’s touchdowns came on Ethan Harmon’s 45-yard run in the first quarter and Worling’s 4-yard run in the second quarter. Redbank Valley (4-0) outgained Brookville (1-3 overall, 1-2 Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference), 236-224. Brookville had its chances, limiting the Bulldogs to minus-15 yards in their first two possessions of the second half. However, the Raiders’ first three drives with good field positions stalled on downs at the Bulldogs’ 29, 37 and 30. Redbank Valley drove to the Raiders’ 28 in the final moments of regulation and threw three passes to the end zone, only to come up empty, forcing overtime. Buchleitner was knocked out of the game for two possessions to start the second half, but returned to the Bulldogs’ QB spot where he finished the game 6-for-15 with 87 yards passing. He and his backup Brandon Bain were picked off twice. Dan Haines intercepted one, giving him three in the last two games for the Raiders. Tyler Dombrowski, a freshman, was making his starting debut at QB and completed 3 of 9 passes for 50 yards. He connected on a 41-yarder on the Raiders’ second scoring drive with Jared Heschke to help set up Worling’s touchdown run on fourth-and-two. The kicking game played an obvious role. Redbank Valley’s first point-after kick by Bain was blocked by Worling and Brookville’s A.J. Moore was wide left after Brookville’s second touchdown. Bain was wide left and short on a 40-yard field goal attempt with 17 seconds left in the first half. REDBANK VALLEY 19, BROOKVILLE 13 OT Score By Quarters Redbank
