STRATTANVILLE – Freshman quarterback Tyler Dombrowski tossed two touchdown passes to Taylor Heinrich as the Brookville Raiders stopped a three-game losing streak with a 23-6 win at Clarion-Limestone on Homecoming Friday night.

The Raiders (2-3 overall, 2-2 Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference) led 11-0 at halftime and limited the Lions (1-4, 1-4) to just four first downs and 68 yards of offense. The Lions turned the ball over three times in the first half, which helped limit them to just eight plays from scrimmage.

Brookville turned two of the five C-L turnovers into two touchdowns. Free safety Dan Haines intercepted Lions quarterback Dan Miller twice, giving Haines five in the last three games.

But the Raiders had some problems with holding onto the ball in slippery conditions as well in a rainy first half that gave away to dry conditions in the second half. Brookville fumbled six times, but didn’t lose any of them. Two went out of bounds.

Dombrowski, making his second start, threw a 14-yard TD pass to Heinrich for the game’s first score late in the first quarter. Heinrich, the tight end, made a juggling catch on a third-and-nine play.

Kicker A.J. Moore made it 11-0 when he kicked a 22-yard field goal with 4:52 left in the second quarter.

The Raiders upped their advantage to 17-0 when Dombrowski found a wide-open Heinrich down the middle for a 40-yard TD pass.

While Dombrowski showed promise with his best passing effort in his early career, connecting on 10 of 19 passes for 151 yards, he was intercepted four times. One of them turned into a C-L touchdown when Zac Roller stepped in front of a screen pass and returned it 56 yards with 4:08 left in the third quarter.

After C-L was stopped on a fourth-and-three from its own 16 late in the game, the Raiders took over and scored on the first play on Cayliff Worling’s 16-yard run.

C-L limited the Raiders to 112 yards rushing on 52 attempts while the Raiders held C-L to minus-2 yards rushing on just 14 attempts, which included two sacks by Jared Heschke and Heinrich.

Miller was 6-of-26 for 70 yards.
