KANE – Thanks to a 14-0 win over visiting Curwensville and a 21-0 Johnsonburg win over Elk County Catholic Friday night, Kane claimed its second straight AML-South title.

The Wolves, the defending AML Champions, will meet Cameron County in the AML Title Game Friday night at Cameron County. Kane beat Cameron County in both the AML Title Game and the District 9 Class A title game last season, but Cameron County handed the Wolves a 27-26 overtime loss in Week One this season at Cameron County.

Kane (7-2 overall, 7-2 AML-South) needed to beat Curwensville (7-2, 7-2) and then have Johnsonburg (6-3, 6-3) knock off ECC (6-3, 6-3) in order to win the AML-South. An ECC win would have meant Curwensville would have won the title on tiebreaking points.

Kane did its part limiting a Curwensville offense that was averaging 349.7 yards per game to 98 total yards of offense while shutting out the Golden Tide for the third straight time over the last two years. Curwensville was averaging 34 ppg coming in.

On offense, Kane used a strong running game that featured two backs over 100 yards to run for 312 yards while racking up 358 total yards of offense.

Ross Nicholson had 16 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown, while Shane Todd had 14 carries for 107 yards and a score.

Nicholson gave the Wolves a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter on a 12-yard scoring run, and then Todd provided some breathing room for Kane when he scored on a 4-yard run 1:17 into the fourth quarter. Nicholson added a pair of catches for 15 yards.

Curwensville, which was averaging 189.3 yards per game on the ground, was limited to 45 yards rushing. Quarterback David Kalgren had 21 of those yards but was just 9 of 21 passing for 53 yards and two interceptions. Kalgren did pick off a Kenny Kane pass on defense giving him a District 9-leading nine on the season.
