Oct. 30, 2008

ELLWOOD CITY – Moniteau won’t have an undefeated regular-season after all.

The Warriors dropped a 12-7 decision to non-WPIAL playoff participant Riverside, which entered the game with only three wins, Thursday night at Riverside.

Cole Jackson’s 2-yard touchdown run proved to be the difference for the Panthers (4-6), who also got a touchdown reception from Justin McCanna (3 catches, 66 yards).

Moniteau dropped to 9-1 on the year. The Warriors will face either Brockway or Brookville in the opening round of the District 9 Class AA playoffs next weekend.

The Warriors subbed players throughout the night and gained just 160 yards of total offense. James Shope led the way with 16 carries for 103 yards and a 33-yard touchdown run. He also caught two passes for two yards.
