KANE 40, PORT ALLEGANY 20

PORT ALLEGANY – Andy Olson and Arie Paup each scored two touchdowns to lead Kane to a 40-20 win at Port Allegany Saturday afternoon.

Olson scored on a 59-yard run and on a 99-yard kickoff return, while Paup had a 69-yard touchdown run and an 11-yard touchdown catch.

Kane improves to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the AML South, while Port drops to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in the AML North.

No other information from this game is available at this time.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 21, SHEFFIELD 6

SHEFFIELD – Joe Jacob threw a touchdown pass and ran for a touchdown to lead Elk County Catholic to a 21-6 win at Sheffield Saturday afternoon.

Jacob scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter and then threw a 34-yard scoring pass to Tom Marconi with 30 seconds left in the first half to give the Crusaders (3-1 overall, 3-1 AML North) a 14-0 halftime lead. Matt Meholic then scored on a 6-yard run late in the fourth quarter to make it 21-0 before Craig Fitch hit James Hahn with 34-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the game.

Jacob’s touchdown run was his lone carry of the day, and his scoring pass his lone completing in six tries. Kyle Gerber paced ECC with 17 carries for 104 yards, while Marconi had 11 totes for 61 yards and the one catch for 34 yards.

Sheffield, which outgained ECC 314-225, saw Fitch go 14 of 26 for 193 yards and a touchdown while also throwing an interception. Hahn had seven catches for 131 yards and the touchdown, while Jesse Parsons had 13 carries for 80 yards and three catches for 33 yards. Turnovers hurt Sheffield (0-4, 0-4 AML North) who lost three fumbles and also threw an interception.

MONITEAU 40, A-C VALLEY 0

WEST SUNBURY – Moniteau’s Tyler Armagost became the seventh known District 9 quarterback to throw for 4,000 career yards Friday night when he threw for 211 in the Warriors 40-0 win over visiting A-C Valley.

Armagost, who was 11 of 18 passing with three touchdowns, has now thrown for 4,072 career yards joining an elite club that includes the likes of Smethport’s Mike DeFilippi (6,638), Clearfield’s Chad Kroell (6,088), Keystone’s Adam Black (5,338) and Tom Pore (4,504), Clarion-Limestone’s Hayden Johnston (4,401) and Brookville’s Jon Guth (4,033). It is possible there are more 4,000-yard passers in D9 history that haven’t been reported.  Armagost’s three touchdowns also give him 40 in scoring tosses in his career.

Tony Campbell was once again Armagost’s big target catching five passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

A-C Valley (0-4 overall, 0-4 KSAC) dropped its 26th straight game, while Moniteau moved to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference.  

INDIAN VALLEY 19, DUBOIS 14

REEDSVILLE – Will Long’s 25-yard pass to Hunter Thompson with 57 seconds left in the game gave Indian Valley a come-from-behind 19-14 win over DuBois Friday night.

The Beavers (2-2 overall, 0-1 MAC-Seven Mountains) grabbed their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter when Garrett Malmgren scored on a 37-yard run. Malmgren rushed for 54 yards on 16 carries.

Indian Valley (2-2, 1-0) got another TD pass from Long in the first half along with a 2-yard run to start the game’s scoring.

DuBois scored its first touchdown with 1:24 left in the first half when Danny Henry tossed a 45-yard TD pass to Kyle Bish.

Henry left the game later with an injury, as did replacement Josh Means.

BROCKWAY 51, OTTO-ELDRED 20

BROCKWAY – Ben Kuhar had a huge night for the Brockway Rovers, scoring five touchdowns in a Mercy Rule 51-20 rout of visiting Otto-Eldred Friday night.

Kuhar caught four passes for 124, grabbing TD passes of 63 and 52 from quarterback Derek Buganza. Kuhar also returned the opening kickoff 86 yards for a score, scored on a 5-yard run and returned a fumble two yards for his fifth and final touchdown early in the third quarter.

Buganza completed 21 of 32 passes for 365 yards with four touchdowns, which include an 8-yard pass to Aaron Shaffer and a 42-yard pass to Shane Horner.

The Rovers (2-2) also got a 33-yard field goal from Dan Golemboski.

Otto-Eldred (0-4) scored on Mark Beckwith’s 77-yard kickoff return in the second quarter and Zach Williams’ 14-yard TD reception from quarterback Shawn Barnish with the running clock already in operation.

COUDERSPORT 29, RIDGWAY 8

RIDGWAY – Shaking off an 8-8 tie at halftime, the visiting Coudersport Falcons eventually turned back the Ridgway Elkers with a 29-8 win Friday night.

Tim Thomas scored three touchdowns, two on 2-yard runs and the other on a 21-yard TD pass from Brett Whitman. He finished with 128 yards rushing on 12 carries.

Whitman scored the final touchdown for the Falcons (3-1) on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Ridgway (2-2) got 110 yards rushing on 21 carries from Elliot Pontious. Cory Eshbach caught a 6-yard TD pass from Joe Renaud. The Elkers went up 2-0 in the first quarter on a safety.

JOHNSONBURG 47, SMETHPORT 6

SMETHPORT – Ren Yonker ran 13 times for 214 yards and two touchdowns, threw for 60 and a third and intercepted a pass to lift unbeaten Johnsonburg to its fourth consecutive victory over a winless team with a 47-6 victory at Smethport Friday night.

Yonker, who was 5 of 9 passing with an interception as well, scored on runs of 90 and 73 yards in the first half helping the Rams (4-0 overall, 4-0 AML South) take a 20-0 halftime lead. He then hooked up with Craig Carrow for a 22-yard scoring strike in the third quarter to make it 27-0 at the end of the quarter.

Carrow scored twice for Johnsonburg also reaching the end zone on a 40-yard interception return, while Zane Zelehoski added 13 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Johnsonburg outgained Smethport 490-249 including 414 to 214 on the ground.

The Hubbers (0-4, 0-4 AML North) got a 32-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter from Ryan Wells, who led Smethport with 10 carries for 117 yards.  

KARNS CITY 54, CLARION-LIMESTONE 12

KARNS CITY – Karns City rolled Clarion-Limestone 54-12 in KSAC action Friday night at Karns City.

The Gremlins (4-0 overall, 4-0 KSAC), who led 41-0 at the half, have now won 24 straight KSAC games tying the 1961-64 Union teams for the third longest streak in KSAC/Little 12/Southern 7 history.

Six different Karns City runners found the end zone including a pair of touchdowns a piece from Anthony Stimac and Josh Callender, as the Gremlins piled up 451 yards rushing on just 35 carries, an average of 12.9 yards per carry. Five of Karns City’s seven touchdown runs were 24 yards or longer.

Anthony Stimac led the way rushing six times for 109 yards, while going 5 of 8 passing for 49 yards.  Callender added three totes for 82 yards including a 70-yard score.

C-L scored on a 57-yard pass from Dan Miller to Zac Kemmer and a 40-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Zac Roller. Miller was 10 of 23 passing for 148 yards while also throwing an interception. Kemmer had four catches for 117 yards and the touchdown.

BRADFORD 42, WARREN 7

BRADFORD – Bradford scored 28 unanswered second-half points to break open a 7-point halftime lead and get a 42-7 win over rival Warren Friday night in Bradford.

The Owls (3-1) led 14-7 at the break but scored two touchdowns in each of the last two quarters to win in a laugher.

Three Warren miscues in the second half led to quick Bradford scores.

First, the Dragons fumbled early in the third quarter leading to a 5-yard touchdown run by Mark Havers, who finished the night with 22 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

Then a high-punt snap set Bradford up for another 1-yard scoring run by Havers making it 28-7.

After Mike Pascarella (9 carries, 52) yards, scored the second of his two touchdowns on a 6-yard run, Pat Pascarella returned an interception 52 yards for the Owls final score.

Bradford also got a 31-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Grandy to Cody Nuzzo in the first half.

Warren’s lone score came on a 13-yard pass from Matt Stapleford to Todd Latimer in the second quarter. Stapleford finished 10 of 22 for 130 yards.

ST. MARYS 21, HUNTINGDON 9

ST. MARYS – St. Marys used a strong defensive effort to win its third game in a row 21-9 over visiting Huntingdon in a Mountain Athletic Conference-Nittany League game Friday night.

The Dutch (3-1 overall, 3-0 NL) limited Huntingdon (2-2, 1-2) to 183 yards of total offense including just 53 rushing yards on 31 carries.

Meanwhile, St. Marys’ offense got a pair of short touchdown runs from Kevin Hoy and a third score from Shane Krise.

Hoy rushed 16 times for 45 yards and scored on a runs of 1 and 2 yards, while Krise added 41 yards rushing on six carries while also catching one pass for 18 yards and intercepting a pass on defense.

Nathan Betts’ 7-yard scoring pass to Jason Pierotti and a safety accounted for Huntingdon’s points.
