CLEARFIELD-DUBOIS TO PLAY FOR "FIRST MEDIA RADIO/DAN'S PRO SHOP - KING OF THE MOUNTAIN TROPHY"

DUBOIS – After 101 meetings, the Clearfield and DuBois football teams will have a regular-season trophy to play for.

On Monday, First Media Radio announced that the winner of Friday’s night’s game at DuBois’ E.J. Mansell Stadium with receive the “First Media Radio/Dan’s Pro Shop – King of the Mountain Trophy” with the winning school keeping the trophy at its high school until the team’s meet the following season.

“What a great way to add to the tradition of the 102-game series,” First Media News and Sports Director Drew Gordon said. “Having Clearfield County’s two biggest teams battle for a trophy and bragging rights should be a natural, traditional event. What a wonderful way to start the season.”

According to Gordon, both Clearfield athletic director Jon Mikesell and DuBois athletic director Pam Murdock gave their blessing for the yearly award.

The “King of the Mountain” name was also a natural fit according to Gordon.

“The one thing that separates both communities is Rockton Mountain,” Gordon said. “Both Clearfield and DuBois and tight-knight communities, and no matter how either team’s season is going, both sides provide physical, hard-nosed work on the field. In the years I have called games on the air, the Beavers vs. the Bisons never disappoints.”

First Media General Manager Moose Rosana said that he appreciates the efforts of Dan’s Pro Shop for designing the trophy the teams will be playing for each year.

First Media Radio broadcast both Clearfield and DuBois on its three stations. DuBois football can be heard on WOWQ-FM (102.1) while Clearfield can be heard on both WCPA (900 AM) and WQYX (93.1 FM).

DuBois leads the series, which resumes after a one-year layoff, 67-29-5 but Clearfield has won four of the last five games.
