KARNS CITY – Brandon Bain hit Keaton Delp with a pair of touchdown passes, as Redbank Valley beat Karns City for the first time since 2004 28-14 Friday night in Karns City.

The Bulldogs (2-0) raced out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and 21-0 at halftime on their way to their seventh 2-0 start in the past nine seasons.

A pair of scores 56 seconds apart late in the first quarter set the tone for the rest of the game.

The Bulldogs went up 7-0 on an 18-yard Bain to Keaton Delp scoring pass with 4:52 left in the quarter, and following a Ryan Rupp fumble recovery at the Karns City 25, Kyle Lee scored from nine yards out making it 14-0.

Redbank Valley then added a 2-yard Caleb Delp touchdown run early in the second quarter to take the 21-0 advantage.

Karns City scored on the first play of the fourth quarter when sophomore Glenn Toy went over from three yards out cutting the Redbank lead to 21-6, but Bain hit Keaton Delp with a 15-yard touchdown pass midway through the quarter to restore the three-touchdown lead.

The Gremlins (1-1) finished off the scoring with a 1-yard Tyler Shreve run in the final 30 seconds.

Bain was 8 of 12 passing for 91 yards, the two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran 13 times for 34 yards. Keaton Delp’s two touchdowns were his only catches of the game and went for a combined 33 yards. He also had an interception on defense. Caleb Delp ran 13 times for 108 yards and the touchdown and caught two passes for 27 yards.

A week after leading a 90-yard touchdown drive to beat Moniteau and earn Co-RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Player of the Week honors, Dylan Hipple was 9 of 16 passing for 114 yards and two picks. Toy ran nine times for 46 yards.

Redbank Valley is at A-C Valley next week while Karns City travels to Wilmington for a game that will be broadcast on PCN.
