BROCKWAY – Derek Buganza became just the fifth player in Pennsylvania scholastic football history to throw for 8,000 career yards when he threw for 366 Friday night in a 57-13 win over Coudersport giving him 8,061 career passing yards.

Buganza was 20-for-31 Friday night but surprisingly threw just one touchdown pass, a 69-yard heave to Kyle Braun on his last pass of the night, as Brockway scored the remainder of its touchdowns on the ground including three by Chris Marshall (8 carries, 28 yards), two by Mike Vervoort, who rushed five times for 94 yards, and one by Buganza on a 1-yard run.

Braun had a huge receiving night catching seven balls for 199 yards and the touchdown.

Buganza 8,061 career passing yards place him third all-time in Pennsylvania history behind Downingtown East’s Pat Devlin (8,162 yards) and Lancaster Catholic’s Kyle Smith (8,545). His touchdown pass also gives him 80 in his career leaving him in sole possession of the District 9 touchdown record. He entered the night tied with Clearfield's Chad Kroell with 79.

Brockway led just 14-7 after Kory Majot returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown 14 seconds into the second quarter, but the Rovers scored three times in the final 5:30 of the half to take a 35-7 halftime lead. The Buganza-to-Braun scoring pass less than two minutes into the second half then put the Mercy Rule into play, as the Rovers handed the Falcons their worst loss since a 60-8 loss to Johnsonburg in 1987.

Thanks to 200 rushing yards and 404 total passing yards - Kyle Titler was 5 of 6 for 38 yards - Brockway went over 600 yards total offense. Marshall added four catches for 46 yards and Vervoort two for 21. Jake Shaffer added five grabs for 77 yards.

Majot scored both Coudy touchdowns, as he also scored on a 6-yard pass from Jason Gibson in the third quarter.
