ST. MARYS – Some nights it just your night, and Friday night it was Justin Quiggle’s night for the St. Marys Flying Dutchman.

Quiggle combined for 291 yards of total offense and five touchdowns, giving him 12 touchdowns for the season, and also had a 65-yard interception return that set up another touchdown in St. Marys’ 46-15 rout of visiting Moniteau Friday night.

The junior tailback ran seven times for 105 yards and two touchdowns and added four catches for 186 yards and three scores.

It was Quiggle’s pass-catching ability that lifted St. Marys (3-2 overall, 1-2 KSAC Large School Division) early on Friday.

He caught touchdown passes of 67 and 38 yards from Brad Yetzer in the first quarter helping the Dutch take a 13-0 lead at the end of one.

Then, after Kyle Armagost had cut the lead to 13-7 with a 15-yard scoring run early in the second quarter, Quiggle hauled in a 69-yard touchdown pass from Yetzer with 4:10 left in the half to make it 19-7 and then broke free on a 60-yard scoring run with 1:03 left before the break to make it 27-7.

St. Marys then scored three times in a span of 2:35 midway through the third quarter to put the Mercy Rule into effect.

Quiggle made it 34-7 on a 33-yard run with 8:52 left in the third then Kyle Schneider scored on a 1-yard run with 6:25 remaining making it 40-7.

Moniteau then turned the ball over immediately leading to a 33-yard Schneider touchdown run eight seconds later making it 46-7.

St. Marys’ defense was a big reason for the victory forcing five Moniteau turnovers, including three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Yetzer finished 4 of 7 passing for 186 yards and the three scoring passes, his first three touchdown passes of his varsity career. Schneider added six carries for 64 yards and the two touchdowns. Jimmy Werner added two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt.

Armagost, the reigning RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Player of the Week, was 7 of 15 passing for 94 yards and three interceptions while rushing 14 times for 88 yards and the touchdown.
