JOHNSONBURG 48, SHEFFIELD 0

SHEFFIELD – Max Zimmerman ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries to lead Johnsonburg to a 48-0 win at Sheffield Saturday afternoon.

Zimmerman scored the only points the Rams (3-1) needed in the first three minutes on 1– yard run and then added a 2-yard run in the third quarter.

In between, Andrew Nortum ran for a pair of short touchdowns and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Louie Imbrogno, and Mitchell Vallone scored on an 11-yard run.

Johnsonburg led 20-0 at the end of the first quarter, 34-0 at halftime and 41-0 at the end of three quarters. The Rams finished off the scoring on a fumble recovery for a score by Steve Zimmerman.

Nortum was 5 of 11 passing for 122 yards and the score. Vallone added 35 yards rushing and 48 yards receiving.

Sheffield had negative-30 yards of offense including negative-34 running.

DUBOIS 34, FRANKLIN 15

FRANKLIN — Spoiling Franklin’s Homecoming, the DuBois Beavers improved to 2-0 with a 34-15 win over the Knights.

DuBois led 21-0 at halftime on two Shawn Newpher runs and quarterback Sean Sleigh’s 15-yard run with 25 seconds left in the first half. Max Hine scored twice for the Beavers in the second half on a 17-yard pass from Sleigh and a 33-yard run.

Franklin (2-2) didn’t score until the fourth quarter.

Newpher paced DuBois with 132 yards rushing on 15 carries, while Sleigh was 6 of 9 passing for 74 yards, a touchdown and an interception while also running 11 times for 40 yards. Hines had 60 yards rushing on five carries and 47 yards receiving on three catches. Newpher added one catch for 11 yards.

Romeo Cooley led Franklin with five carries for 109 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run. Brandon Laing had four catches for 63 yards and a score.

MONITEAU 46, REDBANK VALLEY 32

WEST SUNBURY — In a shootout affair, Moniteau quarterback Kyle Armagost ran for three touchdowns and passed for three more scores while running for 143 yards and passing for 316 yards to pace the Warriors (2-2) past visiting Redbank Valley, 46-32.

Armagost threw two touchdown passes of 45 and 27 yards to Ethan Pry and a 10-yard TD pass to Zach Sloan. He scored on runs of 5, 2 and 11 yards. Dustin Geagan ran for 106 yards, which included a 48-yard TD run. Pry wound up catching eight passes for 184 yards.

For Redbank Valley (3-1), quarterback Brandon Bain threw TD passes of 74 and 55 yards to Keaton Delp, who also returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown. Bain wound up throwing for 199 yards.

CURWENSVILLE 55, OTTO-ELDRED 0

CURWENSVILLE  — Curwensville scored six touchdowns in the first half and cruised to a 55-0 rout of visiting Otto-Eldred Friday night.

The Golden Tide (4-0) led 42-0 by intermission in a game that saw five different players find the end zone. Shae Best, Alex Holland and Zach Dimmick each scored two touchdowns.

The Tide gained 360 yards on the ground, led by Holland’s 174 yards on just 12 carries. He scored on runs of 15 and 26 yards in the first half. Both of Best’s receptions went for touchdowns, a 20-yarder from Alec Starr and a 65-yarder from Hunter McCracken. Dimmick, who rushed for 87 yards on seven carries, scored on runs of 7 and 6 yards.

Otto-Eldred (0-4) was limited to 65 yards of offense.

CLEARFIELD 28, INDIAN VALLEY 7

REEDSVILLE — In a battle of unbeatens playing in their Mountain Athletic Conference-Allegheny Division opener, it was the Clearfield Bisons who responded with four unanswered touchdowns in a 28-7 win over Indian Valley Friday night.

The Warriors (3-1) struck first just a few minutes into the game when running back Mitch Fultz connected with Zach Hassinger on a 50-yard TD pass. But after that, it was all Bisons.

Derek Morgan scored on a 3-yard run and Curtis Frye hit Derek Danver with a 4-yard pass in the second quarter to put the Bisons (4-0) up for good. In the second half, Beau Swales returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and he added a 14-yard TD run midway through the fourth quarter.

Morgan ran for 121 yards on 19 carries while Swales finished with 89 yards on 13 attempts. Frye completed 8 of 22 passes for 122 yards.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 47, CLARION-LIMESTONE 12

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Three players each ran for two touchdowns as the Punxsutawney Chucks beat visiting Clarion-Limestone, 47-12, Friday night.

Ben Blazavich and Jason Fallara each ran for two scores in the first half, Blazavich on runs of 2 and 1 yards and Fallara on runs of 8 and 3 yards. Quarterback Logan Weaver scored on two third-quarter runs of 10 and 29 yards.

The Chucks (4-0) led 26-7 at intermission. They outgained the Lions, 397-144.

The Lions (1-3) scored their lone touchdown on Joe Tommasi’s 1-yard run early in the second quarter.

BRADFORD 35, FORT LEBOEUF 0

WATERFORD — The Bradford Owls improved to 4-0 with a 35-0 shutout of Fort LeBoeuf in a District 10 Region 6 Conference matchup Friday night.

The Owls led the Bisons (1-3) 7-0 at halftime before breaking things open. Defensively, the Owls were stout, limiting Fort LeBoeuf to only 82 yards of offense.

Quarterback Cody Coats and running back Pat Pascarella each rushed for over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns. Coats led the way with 139 yards rushing with TD runs of 78 and 33 yards. Pascarella finished with 117 yards and scored on two 10-yard runs. Mark Havers added the first score of the game on a 9-yard run.

The Owls were whistled for 115 yards in penalties.

CAMERON COUNTY 56, RIDGWAY 7

EMPORIUM — The Cameron Red Raiders racked up 351 yards of rushing and dominated visiting Ridgway, 56-7, Friday night.

Jason Blose gained 132 yards and scored two touchdowns while Zach Austin rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns.

Cameron County (2-2) limited Ridgway to just 64 yards of offense, intercepting the Elkers (0-4) three times and sacking them six more times. Ridgway actually scored the game’s first points when quarterback Alex Dickant threw a 62-yard TD pass to Ben Jaques.

Jason Shaw and Chance Goodrow also scored touchdowns for the Red Raiders.

KARNS CITY 40, KEYSTONE  20

KNOX — Tyler Slagle and Glenn Toy each scored two touchdowns to lead the Karns City Gremlins to a 40-20 win at Keystone Friday night.

Slagle rushed for 91 yards on 12 carries and scored on an 11-yard run in the Gremlins’ 20-point second quarter. He also caught a 52-yard TD pass from Dylan Hipple less than two minutes after his scoring run. Toy started the game’s scoring with a 2-yard run and added a 3-yarder midway through the fourth quarter.

Keystone quarterback Mitchell Rearick passed for one touchdown and ran for two others. He hit Josh Eberhart with a 67-yard scoring pass and ran in two others from 9 and 6 yards out. He completed 7 of 14 passes for 191 yards and rushed for 52 yards.

Karns City outgained Keystone, 433-335.

MAPLEWOOD 51, UNION 16

GUYS MILLS — Unbeaten Maplewood notched a 51-16 non-conference win over Union Friday night.

The Tigers (4-0) got 168 yards and three touchdowns from Josh Davis while Jake Snyder gained 159 yards and scored a touchdown. Zach Marvin added two others.

Union (0-4) scored first on Trent Corle’s 16-yard pass to Taylor Smith before Maplewood scored the game’s next seven touchdowns. Austin Davis scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter. He led the team with 71 yards rushing.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 27, PORT ALLEGANY 20

 

ST MARYS — Elk County Catholic remained unbeaten with a hard-fought 27-20 victory over Port Allegany Friday.

 

Cole Gerber scored on a 4-yard run 46 seconds into the fourth quarter to stretch the Crusaders (4-0 overall, 4-0 AML-South) lead to 27-14.

 

The insurance points proved to be valuable, as Port Allegany (1-3, 1-3) quarterback Matt Bodamer scored on a 13-yard run with 5:20 remaining to cut the deficit to 27-20. 

 

Ricky Pearsall got the ECC on the board in the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0.

 

Bodamer and Seth Lowery would add consecutive rushing touchdowns to give the Gators a short-lived 14-7 lead.

 

Kyle Schneider took over from there scoring on a 6-yard run to give to tie the game and then throwing a 52-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Herzing to put the Crusader on top 21-14 at halftime.

 

Pearsall was over 100 yards once again, finishing with 141 yards on

25 carries. Schneider completed 4 of 5 passes for 95 yards while Herzing caught two balls for 81 yards.

 

Seth Lowery led Port with 142 yards on 22 carries.

 

ECC will travel to Johnsonburg next Friday while Port Allegany will host Otto-Eldred Saturday.

 

KANE 19, SMETHPORT 15

 

SMETHPORT — Kane was able to withstand a late Smethport rally and hold on for a hard-fought 19-15 win.

 

Brian Zetwick's 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter cut the deficit to 19-15, but the Hubbers would get no closer.

 

Kane (2-2, 2-2) built  a 7-3 halftime lead and led 13-3 late in the third before Zetwick scored his first touchdown, a 1-yard run.

 

Jory Okerlund added a 36-yard field goal for the Hubbers.

 

Alex Anderson and Bruce Waters had big games for Kane. Anderson was 9 of 17 passing for 190 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception, while Waters had four catches for 141 yards and two scores and also made seven tackles on defense. Logan Depto also scored on rushing touchdown for Kane.
