UNION 20, SHEFFIELD 16

SHEFFIELD — Trent Corle, Taylor Smith and Kaden McGregor scored touchdowns to lead the Union Knights to a 20-16 win at Sheffield Saturday afternoon.

Austin Davis led the Knights (4-6) with 89 yards rushing on 12 carries while Smith finished with 73 yards on 15 attempts. McGregor returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown.

Union, which won four games in a season for the first time since going 5-4 in 1997.

KEYSTONE 30, JOHNSONBURG 26

KNOX — Keystone quarterback Mitchell Rearick passed for three touchdowns, including two in the second half, to lead the Panthers to a 30-26 win in a non-conference matchup with Johnsonburg, knocking the Rams out of the District 9 Class A playoff race. The Panthers (3-7) went up 24-12 on Rearick’s 65-yard pass to Josh Lencer with 1:42 left in the third quarter. Then after the Rams got to within 24-22, Rearick connected with Josh Eberhart on a 26-yard TD pass with 9:54 left in the game.

Rearick completed 7 of 14 passes for 138 yards. He threw a 20-yard TD pass to Matt Hergenroeder in the second quarter. Colt O’Neil, who rushed for 105 yards on 11 carries, returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Johnsonburg finished at 4-6. Quarterback Andrew Nortum rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries and passed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, including a 10-yard pass to Louie Imbrogno and a 37-yard strike to Mitchell Vallone. Joe Holmberg caught nine passes for 116 yards and grabbed a 1-yard TD pass from Mitchell Vallone.     

CLEARFIELD 12, HUNTINGDON 0

HUNTINGDON — The Clearfield Bisons wrapped up an unbeaten season at 10-0 by scoring two second-half touchdowns in a 12-0 win at Huntingdon Friday night.

Quarterback Curtis Frye threw a 14-yard pass to Jack Mellgard in the third quarter and Derek Morgan scored on a 4-yard run with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter.

Morgan rushed for 102 yards on 20 carries and caught two passes for 64 yards. Frye completed 10 of 20 passes for 140 yards.

The Bisons outgained the Bearcats, 257-187, and intercepted three passes. Andrew Redden, Beau Swales and Curtis Frye picked off Huntingdon quarterback John O’Korn.

GROVE CITY 47, MONITEAU 7

GROVE CITY — Unbeaten Grove City plowed its way past the Moniteau Warriors, rushing for 404 yards in a 47-7 rout in a non-conference matchup Friday night.

Three Eagles running backs — Erik Record, Harold Price and Foster Reznor — each went over 100 yards rushing as District 10 Region 5 champion Grove City finished the year at 10-0. Record led the way with 129 yards on nine carries and scored on runs of 34, 39 and 5 yards.

Moniteau quarterback Kyle Armagost scored the lone touchdown for the Warriors (5-5) on a 21-yard run in the second quarter. Armagost rushed for 71 yards and completed 6 of 11 passes for 55 yards.

CONNEAUT VALLEY 55, A-C VALLEY 6

CONNEAUTVILLE — Conneaut Valley quarterback Nolan Griffin passed for 173 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Indians in their 55-6 rout of visiting A-C Valley Friday night.

Griffin hit Casey Baker, Nolan Varee, Travis Foster and Jake Conley with TD passes. Baker also ran for 97 yards and a touchdown.

The Falcons, who finished 1-9, scored their touchdown in the second quarter and trailed 34-6 at halftime. Falcons details were not available.

RIDGWAY 20, CLARION-LIMESTONE 18

RIDGWAY — Leading from start to finish, the Ridgway Elkers notched their first win of the season, holding off visiting Clarion-Limestone, 20-18, Friday night.

The Elkers (1-9) had to stop a two-point conversion try in the final minutes to secure their win. After the Lions (1-9) scored on Billy Kelley’s 60-yard TD pass to Matt Wolbert with 1:59 left in the game, the Elkers’ defense denied Kelley on a run, stopping him short of the goal line.

Ridgway recovered the Lions’ ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.

The Elkers went up 20-12 when Alex Dickant scored on a 4-yard run with 2:15 remaining. Kelley’s pass to Wolbert came on the first play after the following kickoff.

D.J. Skraba ran for 67 yards on 20 carries and scored on  a 5-yard run to start the game’s scoring in the second quarter. He also returned a kickoff 84 yards following C-L’s first score when Kelley hit Taylor Port with a 53-yard pass.

Kelley, who threw for 201 yards, scored on a 10-yard run with 8:52 left in the fourth quarter, but the Lions failed to score on  a two-point conversion pass, leaving Ridgway with  a 14-12 advantage.

Dickant rushed for 80 yards on 13 carries. Kemmer caught six passes for 61 yards for the Lions.

BRADFORD 52, DUBOIS 26

DUBOIS – Pat Pascarella ran for 332 yards and five touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass to lead Bradford to a 54-26 season-ending win over DuBois Friday night at DuBois.

The loss knocked DuBois out of the postseason with a sub-.500 records (4-6).

Pascarella, who needed only 19 carries to get his yards, scored on run of 51 and 63 yards in a high-scoring first half that saw Bradford lead 26-20 at the break thanks his second touchdown run with 35 seconds left in the half. He then helped the Owls (8-2) pull away by scoring on runs of 37,79 and 51 yards in the second half – the last two came in the fourth quarter – before capping off the scoring with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Mark Havers and was 1-for-2 passing. He was also fantastic on the defensive side of the ball with 14 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.

Havers had a pair of touchdowns, as he also scored on a 7-yard run. He finished the night with 14 carries for 89 yards and one catch for 16. Also scoring for the Owls was Cody Coats on a 40-yard run. Coats had six carries for 45 yards.

DuBois got big game from quarterback Sean Sleigh who was 16 of 31 passing for 284 yards and three touchdowns. He hit Chris Powers with a 42-yard scoring strike, Paul Butler with a 14-yard toss and max Hines with a 33-yard touchdown pass. Shawn Newpher also had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for the Beavers. Hines had four catches for 84 yards, Butler four for 57 and John Kane five for 83.

After Bradford took a 13-6 lead in the first quarter the game settled down until the teams combined for an astonishing 27 points in the final 2:50 of the first half.

Coats got it started with his touchdown run at 2:50. Newpher then had the kickoff return at 2:3 and Sleigh hit Butler with a 14-yard pass at 1:06 tying the game at 20 before Pascarella’s 60-yard run gave Bradford the lead back at the break.

Bradford’s season is over as well despite an 8-2 mark.
