COUDERSPORT TO FORGO PLAYOFFS; DECISION OPENS DOOR FOR KANE, SMETHPORT

COUDERSPORT – According to multiple sources, Coudersport (4-5) has elected to not participate in the District 9 Class A playoffs.

That means that an extra spot has opened up in the postseason with either Kane (4-5) or Smethport (4-5) or both in line to make the District 9 Class A tournament.

One or the other would fill the eighth seed if Johnsonburg (4-5) beats Keystone (2-7) Friday night – the win would give the Rams the seventh seed – while both could qualify with a Johnsonburg loss.

The official word on Coudersport not entering the postseason will come after this weekend's games. The Falcons are the second District 9 teams to forgo the postseason this year because of a sub-.500 record joining Karns City (3-6), who earlier in the week confirmed it would not be participating in the Class AA tournament.
