PUNXSUTAWNEY 64, INDIANA 62

INDIANA, Pa. – Carter Newcome’s steal and reverse layup with 1.9 seconds left lifted visiting Punxsutawney to a 64-62 win over Indiana.

With the game tied at 62, Indiana was inbounding the ball under its own basket when Newcomb, who was guarding the inbounder, knocked the ball down, turned around and laid the ball in with his back to the basket to give the Chucks the win.

Newcomb’s hoop capped off a second-half comeback for the Chucks, who trailed 29-21 at halftime before outscoring the Indians 23-16 in the third quarter and 20-17 in the fourth quarter.

Ethan Blose led Punxsutawney with a game-high 28 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter. Daren Byers added 16 points. Newcomb had six points, all after halftime.

Luke Thomas paced Indiana with 21 points. Alec Petroff and Owen Dougherty each added 12 tallies.

BROOKVILLE 67, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 60

DUBOIS, Pa. – Thanks in part to 14 points from Trenton Gilhousen visiting Brookville topped DuBois Central Catholic, 67-60.

Jack Krug added 12 points for the Raiders with Bryan Dworek scoring 11 and Aaron Park nine.

Justin Miknis had a game-high 28 points for DCC with Nick Felix adding 20 points.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 68, JOHNSONBURG 42

ST. MARYS, Pa. – In a rematch of last year’s District 9 Class 1A title game, Regis Wortman and Alex Breindel combined to score 37 points to lead Elk County Catholic to a 68-42 win over Johnsonburg in AML action.

Wortman led the Crusaders with 19 points with Breindel adding 18. Alec Wehler chipped in 10 tallies and Carter Lindemuth had nine.

Austin Green scored a game-high 23 points for Johnsonburg.

AUSTIN 61, SHEFFIELD 47

AUSTIN, Pa. – A balanced scoring effort with three players in double digits led Austin to a 61-47 win over visiting Sheffield.

Dempsey Glover led the Panthers with 15 points, Blake Burgett added 14 points and Payton Shupe had 13. Also for Austin, Mason Valenti scored eight points.

Tyler Hepinger led Sheffield with 13 points.

COUDERSPORT 96, PORT ALLEGANY 39

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Owen Chamber exploded for 40 points, including 38 in the first half, as visiting Coudersport rolled past Port Allegany 96-39.

Chambers hit seven first-half 3-pointers and made 14 first-half baskets to help the Falcons to a 59-28 halftime lead.

Hayden Keck added 14 points for Coudersport with Derek Easton scoring 10 and Travis Gleason eight.

Howie Stuckey paced Port Allegany with 18 points with Jordan Card adding 12.

GALETON 47, OTTO-ELDRED 42

GALETON, Pa. – Sixteen Joel Griffen points helped Galeton beat visiting Otto-Eldred, 47-42, in NTL action.

Issiah Shuemaker added 13 points for the Tigers with Evan Brooks scoring nine.

Cole Sebastian paced Otto-Eldred with 11 points and Cameron Grigsby added nine.

CAMERON COUNTY 74, OSWAYO VALLEY 32

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Jake Walters had 24 points and nine rebounds to lead visiting Cameron County to a 74-32 NTL win over Oswayo Valley.

Marcus Brown added seven points and eight assists for the Red Raiders with Dino Brown scoring 10 points. Also for Cameron County, Ty Bauer added nine points and Matt Swartz and Damien Erickson each scored eight tallies.

Camden Graved paced Oswayo Valley with 10 points.

SMETHPORT 55, NORTHERN POTTER 39

ULYSSES, Pa. – Eric Szarowicz and Caleb Lutz combined to score 26 points to lead visiting Smethport to a 55-39 win over Northern Potter in NTL action.

Szarowicz scored a team-high 14 points with Lutz adding 12. Ian Woodruff and Brandon Peterson each added eight points for the Hubbers.

Holden Cowburn scored a game-high 19 points to lead Northern Potter.
