Dec. 11, 2018 Girls’ Recaps: Schreck Scores 1,000th Point; Beveridge Has Triple-Double

CRANBERRY 73, OIL CITY 30

SENECA, Pa. – With a 26-point outburst in a 73-30 win over visiting Oil City, Malliah Schreck became the 10th player in Cranberry girls’ basketball history to score 1,000 career points.

Schreck, who also finished with nine rebound, needed 25 points entering the game to reach the mark and did so early in the third quarter when she stole the ball and went coast-to-coast for a layup with 4:58 to play in the quarter.

Watch Schreck, who is the third player to reach 1,000 points since Cranberry joined District 9 in 2005, scoring her 1,000th point. The video was taken by Terry Dreihaup.

Ava Ferringer added 12 points for the Berries with Megan Hadden chipping in with 11 and Kaia Dean adding nine.

Tessa Stack paced Oil City with 11 points.

CLARION 70, CLARION-LIMESTONE 27

CLARION, Pa. – Wendy Beveridge recorded a triple-double to lift Clarion past crosstown rival Clarion-Limestone, 70-27.

Beveridge has 12 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocked shots in the win. She talked about the victory.

Ali Troese added a double-double for the Lady Cats with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while KK Girvin had a game-high 16 points with Kait Constantino adding 15 points and six rebounds. Jordan Best also had eight points and 11 boards.

Maddy Craig, Anna Kennemuth and Francis Milliron each scored seven points for C-L. Milliron added seven rebounds with Craig chipping in six for the Lady Lions.

A-C VALLEY 57, KEYSTONE 27

KNOX, Pa. – Four players reached double digits for A-C Valley as the Lady Falcons opened KSAC South play with a 30-point, 57-27, win over Keystone.

Olivia Boocks and Kylee Eaton paced ACV with 14 points each with Cami McNany adding 13 and Andrea Meals 10.

Emily Lauer led Keystone with 12 points and McKenzie Hovis added nine.

PORT ALLEGANY 56, COUDERSPORT 51

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Outscoring Coudersport by five in the fourth quarter, visiting Port Allegany picked up a 56-51 win over the Lady Falcons in NTL action.

The game was tied at 42 through three quarters before Port Allegany outscored Coudersport, 14-9, in the fourth quarter.

Cailey Barnett led the way for the Lady Gators with 20 points and three steals. Bree Garzel chipped in 16 points with Erin Stauffer added 11 points and eight rebounds, including four fourth-quarter tallies.

Shae Black paced Coudersport, which lost a conference game for just the second time in four years, with 19 points. Roselyn Page added 14 points and Sarah Chambers had eight tallies.

Coudersport was 16-0 in both 2016 and 2017 in NTL action and went 15-1 last year with the lone loss coming to Otto-Eldred. It was Port Allegany’s first win over the Lady Falcons since 2015 when the Lady Gators won the league.

ST. MARYS 57, KANE 41

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Megan Quesenberry, Kyla Johnson and Samantha Hayes combined for 45 points to lead St. Marys to a 57-41 win over visiting Kane.

Quesenberry led the Lady Dutch with 17 points, Johnson added 15 and Hayes 13.

Ella Marconi paced Kane with 21 points with Emily Bucheit adding 13.

SHEFFIELD 35, AUSTIN 28

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Annabel Sheldon scored 12 points and Alyssa Dunham added 11 rebounds, six steals and four assists to lift Sheffield to its second straight win with a 35-28 victory over visiting Austin.

Emily Leichtenberger and Rose Mary Nelson each added seven points for the Lady Wolverines.

Taylor Brewer paced Austin with 11 points and five steals with Julie Latimore adding eight tallies.

NORTH EAST 54, BRADFORD 46

BRADFORD, Pa. – Marissa Keith and Bryona Morey combined for 29 points to lead visiting North East to a 54-46 win over Bradford.

Keith led the Grapepickers with 15 points with Morey adding 14.

Hannah Lary had a game-high 19 points to lead Bradford with Erica Marshall chipping in 13 points.

BALD EAGLE AREA 31, CLEARFIELD 27

WINGATE, Pa. – Behind 16 points from Lacee Barnhardt Bald Eagle Area eked out a 31-27 win over visiting Clearfield in Mountain League play.

Alayna Ryan’s nine points paced Clearfield.
