The Lady Chucks title run garnered 26 percent of the vote (fans were allowed to vote for up to their top five storylines) or 322 votes. That easily outpaced a second Punxsutawney story, pitcher Kylee Lingenfelter recording every out by strikeout in the District 9 Class 4A title game against St. Marys. That story received 127 votes, of 10 percent of the total.

Coming in at No. 3 was Beimel’s Dash when St. Marys’ Tim Beimel scored all the way from second base with the winning run on a throwing error to help the Dutch claim their first D9 title since 2000. The Beimel Dash received 106 votes or 9 percent of the total.

The fourth story in the minds of D9 sports fans was Clarion football ending Kane’s run of District 9 titles. The Wolves had won three consecutive champions (two in Class 1A and one in Class 2A) before Clarion beat them, 28-21, in a classic title game at Brockway. That story earned 77 votes or 6 percent on the title.
