Feb. 3, 2020 Girls’ Hoops: Quick Starts Fuels Wins for A-C Valley, Ridgway; Cameron Co. Also Wins

A-C VALLEY 42, VENANGO CATHOLIC 27

FOXBURG, Pa. – Racing out to a 15-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, A-C Valley cruised to a 42-27 win over visiting Venango Catholic in KSAC North action.

Andrea Meals scored six of her team-high 10 points in the opening quarter, and Mia Sherman scored all eight of her points before halftime helping the Lady Falcons build a 28-6 lead by the break.

In all, nine A-C Valley players scored with Baylee Blauser also scoring eight points.

Hope Winger scored a game-high 12 points to go with five rebounds for Venango Catholic with Maria Wessell adding seven points and four rebounds.

RIDGWAY 31, SMETHPORT 10

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Shutting a team out in the first half for at least the second time this year, Ridgway rolled past visiting Smethport, 31-10.

The Lady Elkers led 16-0 at halftime and 23-3 at the end of three quarters.

Gabbi Rohr led Ridgway with a game-high 15 points with Julie Peterson chipping in five.

Danielle Nelson paced Smethport with four points.

CAMERON COUNTY 37, JOHNSONBURG 29

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Behind 16 points from Kaelee Bresslin visiting Cameron County picked up a 37-29 win over Johnsonburg.

Mikenna Farabaugh added 10 points in the win for the Lady Raiders with Mallory McKimm chipping in eight.

Kaci Stelene scored 12 points to lead Johnsonburg with Emma King chipping in six.

CENTRAL-MARTINSBURG 42, BROOKVILLE 38

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Central-Martinsburg handed Brookville its fifth straight loss, 42-38.

Erin Brumbaugh led the Lady Dragons with 14 points.

Marcy Schindler had a double-double for Brookville with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Central-Martinsburg led 25-18 at halftime before the Lady Raiders got within three, 33-30, going to the fourth quarter. Brookville grabbed a 38-37 lead on Lauren Hergert’s 3-pointer with 2:39 remaining but went scoreless the rest of the game. Brumbaugh’s 3-pointer put Central up for good at 40-38 with 1:42 left.
