Ion, Greaves Win 32-Contest at Sportsmanship 1 D9 All-Star Game

KNOX, Pa. – Keystone’s Austin Ion and Moniteau’s Alazia Greaves won the 32-point shooting contests at the 17th annual Clarion County YMCA Sportsmanship 1 All-Star games Saturday at Keystone High School.

Ion edged Moniteau’s Lake Pry, 25-24, to win the boys’ title, which was held at halftime of the girls’ game, while Greaves topped Northern Potter’s Gracie Hamilton, 21-20, to take home the girls’ title at halftime of the boys’ game.

The four finalist advanced to the championship round during preliminary competition held prior to the girls’ game.

The 32-competition consists of 16 or 17 shots with different points awarded for each shot with a maximum score of 32.

Each competitor takes five 3-pointers, 5 pull-up jumpers and 5 layups before proceeding to the free-throw line to take a 1-and-1. If the first shot of the 1-and-1 is made the competitor gets a second shot. The 3-pointers are worth three points, the jumpers are worth two and layups and free throws one each. The 3-pointers and jumpers must be taken from pre-determined specific locations on the floor.
