COUDERSPORT 53, OTTO-ELDRED 43

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – With her team trailing by three going to the fourth quarter, Coudersport’s Haley Keck took over scoring 12 of the Lady Falcons 19 fourth-quarter points in a huge 53-43 win over Otto-Eldred in a showdown between the top two North Tier League teams.

The win avenged a 56-44 loss to the Lady Terrors Saturday in Coudersport and created a virtual tie atop the NTL standings.

Coudersport is now 12-1 in league play and 16-3 overall, while Otto-Eldred is 11-1 in the league and 16-2 overall. The Lady Terrors have one more league game to play than Coudersport the rest of the way, and if the teams remain tied at the top a league title game would most likely be played.

Through three quarters Wednesday, it looked like Otto-Eldred would find a way to win for the second time in four days with the Lady Terrors outscoring the Lady Falcons 14-11 in the third quarter to grab a 37-34 lead heading the final eight minutes. Camryn Thomas (six points) and Ali Cousins (five points) combined for 11 of those 14 third-quarter tallies.

But the third quarter belonged to Keck and Coudersport.

First, Shaelyn Black gave the Lady Falcons the lead, 38-37, with back-to-back baskets including a hoop with six minutes left that put Coudersport in front to stay.

Then Keck, who had seen a 3-pointer wave off with around 6:30 to play on an offensive foul (illegal screen) that would have given Coudersport a 39-37 lead, hit back-to-back 3-pointers to push the Lady Falcons lead to 44-37 with about 4:30 to go.

After Thomas hit one of two free throws to make it 44-38, Keck missed a 3-pointer, and Cousins scored on a layup to cut the Coudersport lead to 44-40 with 3:37 left.

But that was as close as the Lady Terrors got.

After the teams traded missed shots, Keck got an old-school 3-point play with 2:30 left to push the lead back to seven. 47-40.

Britney Greeley then hit a free throw for Otto-Eldred to make it 47-41, but Keck connected on two more free throws to push the lead to eight, 49-41.

Then, with under a minute to go, Adrian Page took a pass from Sarah Chambers and laid it in to make it 51-41 to seal the deal.

Keck finished with a game-high 21 points for Coudersport with Black adding 14 and Chambers eight.
