Otto-Eldred Girls Championship Game Bound For First Time in School History

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Otto-Eldred overcame a slow start to move into the District 9 Class 1A girls’ title game for the first time in school history with a 52-45 win over Northern Potter at Port Allegany High School.

The third-seeded Lady Terrors trailed 10-5 after a quarter before closing to within one, 24-23, at halftime thanks to 11 points from Camryn Thomas, who scored a game-high 22 points.

Otto-Eldred then got hot from the outside in the third quarter hitting three 3-pointers in the quarter, one each by Ali Cousins, Lauren Cousins and Alyssa Shelander. Those three helped the Lady Terrors take a 36-35 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, it was Thomas again, she scored seven more points in the frame, to help Otto-Eldred pull away. Cousins also played a key role going 6 of 6 from the free-throw line in the quarter, as the Lady Terrors were 9 of 10 from the line in the fourth and 12 of 16 in the game.

Gracie Hamilton and Kalie Cowburn paced Northern Potter with 12 points each with Mikayla Lewis adding 11.

Otto-Eldred faces off against North Clarion at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym for the District 9 championship.

Northern Potter meets A-C Valley in the consolation game at 6 p.m. Friday at Kane High School. Both teams are moving into the PIAA playoffs.
