Player Profile: Mattson Higgins, North Clarion

MATSON HIGGINS – SENIOR – NORTH CLARION

Son of: Matt and Michele Higgins
Sports Played: Basketball and baseball
Family Members Playing/Played Sports: His sisters, Meghan and Michela played for North Clarion
2018-19 Highlights: He had his basketball season cut short after just three games and 10 points because of a knee injury but was a member of the D9 runner-up Wolves … The injury kept him from playing baseball during his junior season.
Post-High School Plans: He plans on attending a college that will help him grow as a person and as an athlete. He plans on playing baseball in college.

Q&A With Mattson Higgins

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
MH: Baseball, I have played it with or against my friends my whole life.

D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
MH: Devon Walters hitting a walk-off single to score me my freshman year, to beat C-L in the playoffs.

D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
MH: There is not a better feeling than being on the field or court with my friends.

D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
MH: My parents, they have always pushed me to be my best.

D9Sports: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be and why?
MH: The PIAA is too strict on what you can wear when you are playing.

D9Sports: If you could be president for a day, what would be the one major thing you would do?
MH: If I could be president for a day, I would like to make MLB Opening Day a national holiday.

D9Sports: What is your ideal place to live? County, City, Suburb? Why?
MH: City, There is more opportunities and activities that take place.

D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
MH: I love dogs and fishing.

D9Sports: What is your strongest subject in school?
MH: Strongest, that’s a tough one but favorite is science.

D9Sports: If there was one period in history or one event in history you could go back to, what would it be?
MH: If I could go back into history I’d go back to the moon landing.

D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
MH: What I am looking forward to most in my senior year of sports, and the answer would be basketball. We definitely have heard a lot of doubts about this upcoming season. None of us have truly played at a varsity level consistently yet. We use all that as motivation and have high goals for this year.
