DUBOIS, Pa. – Samantha Hayes of St. Marys defended her District 9 girls’ tennis title Wednesday.
Hayes defeated Abby Gigliotti of Punxsutawney (6-1, 6-2) in the championship match at DuBois High School.
Hayes reached the final with a pair of wins Tuesday in DuBois beating Punxsutawney’s Allie Doverspike (10-0) in the quarterfinals and Clearfield’s Allison Gaines (6-0, 6-0) in the semifinals.
Gigliotti reached the finals with wins over Brockway’s Selena Buttery (10-1) in the quarterfinals and St. Marys’ Lilia Lion (6-1, 6-0) in the semifinals.
