HERSHEY, Pa. – Three District 9 teams advanced as far as the semifinals at the 2019 PIAA Competitive Spirit Champions that were held Friday and Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.

Moniteau (Medium Division), Elk County Catholic (Small Division) and Keystone (Co-ed Division) all advanced to Saturday’s semifinals during the preliminary competition held Friday.
But none of the squads was able to move into Saturday’s championship round.
Moniteau was seventh in its preliminary round group with a score of 73.60, ECC was 11th in its preliminary round group with a score of 74.48 and Keystone was fifth in its preliminary round group with a score of 73.72.
In the semifinals, ECC finished ninth out of 13 teams with a score of 73.17, Moniteau was 10th out of 10 teams with a score of 66.45 and Keystone was fourth out of four teams with a score of 63.40.
Two additional District 9 teams weren’t able to get out of the preliminary round in the Medium Division with Karns City taking 15th in its group with 61.13 points and DuBois 17th in the same group with 56.43 points. The group Karns City and DuBois were in was different than the group Moniteau was in.
