CLARION, Pa. – A Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) spokesperson told exploreClarion.com that negotiations are still ongoing for the Clarion University Tippin Gym renovation project and that a redesign of the project is required.
“We are still in negotiations,” Troy Thompson, Spokesperson for DGS said. “Some of the decisions require a redesign. We have to go through that process. Hopefully, we get cost estimates more firmed up.”
(Editor’s Note: Tippin Gym is used for many District 9 and PIAA playoff games. It was originally believed the gym would not be available for use for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 District 9 and PIAA basketball playoffs. It is not know how the current delay in the project will affect those playoff games or any future playoff games in the district. The district hasn’t announced where it will play postseason contests in those years, although in the past facilities like DuBois High School and DuBois Middle School, Bradford High School and St. Marys High School have been used)
