NO. 22: CHAMBERS’ STEAL AND GAME-WINNING SHOT

Trailing by four, 68-64, to South Side Beaver with just over two minutes to play in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A boys’ basketball playoffs March 10, at St. Marys High School, Coudersport rallied to tie the game on a pair of Travis Gleason free throws with 19 seconds left.

But that meant the Rams were going to be able to hold for the last shot, and the best chance the Falcons had was to win the game in overtime.

Not so fast said senior sharpshooter Owen Chambers, the best player to ever play for the Falcons.

With South Side Beaver holding for the last shot, Chambers stepped in front of a pass from Nate Statler intended for Jake McDougal and stole the ball with about three seconds left. He drove down the court and got a shot up from the right wing with 0.4 seconds left that found nothing but net after the horn sounded setting off a wild celebration from the Coudersport’s bench and fans thanks to a 73-70 Falcons win.

The play was so remarkable, that words do it no justice. So watch it courtesy of the Coudersport team video.
