CANTAFIO RUSHES FOR OVER 200 YARDS, SCORES TWICE AS BROCKWAY ADVANCES TO CLASS AA TITLE GAME

BROCKWAY -- Aaron Cantafio rushed for 201 yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns to led Brockway to a 30-12 win over Brookville in the District 9 Class AA semifinals Friday night at Brockway.

The Rovers will meet Karns City, 49-14 winners over Port Allegany Saturday, for the District 9 championship game Nov. 11 at a site and time to be determined.

Brookville (3-7) had knocked Brockway (9-1) out of the playoffs the past two seasons. Two years ago, Brookville won 33-6 in the D-9 title game and last year the Rovers were beat 21-10 in the semifinals.

Cantafio scored on the first play from scrimmage in the game, going 67 yards for a touchdown. Jesse Vivian scored the two-point conversion to give Brockway an 8-0 lead.

Brookville responded at the 9:13 mark of the first quarter when Ryan Kesterholt scored on a 61-yard run. The two-point conversion failed, but Brookville had made the score 8-6, which would stay the same until 1:33 of the second quarter.

Brockway's Mik Grecco scored from a yard out to cap off a 13-play, 88-yard drive that took 5:40 of the clock. Cantafio ran in the convernsion to give the Rovers a 16-6 lead. 

Grecco also caught a 24-yard screen pass from Adam Kulbatsky and took it for a touchdown at 6:59 of the third quarter to break the game open. Vivian ran in the two-point conversion to increase the Brockway lead to 24-6.

Brockway's last touchdown came on a 3-yard run by Cantafio with 9:22 left in the game.

With the two touchdowns, Cantafio set a District 9 career record for touchdowns. He now has 56 career TDs. Cantafio also had his fifth-straight 200-yard game.

Brookville's Matt Melillo led the Blue Raiders with 16 for 36 passes 218 yards and one touchdown and one interception. Kesterholt gained 101 yards on nine carries.

Brockway outgained Brookville 340-322.
