WEEK 10-11 DISTRICT 9 PLAYOFF GAMES

DUBOIS FALLS TO ALTOONA

ALTOONA- Altoona scored 40 unanswered points en route to a 40-7 win over DuBois in the season-finale for the Beavers Friday night.

DuBois (4-6) got on the board two plays into the game when Matt Sopic found Todd Braid on an 80-yard touchdown pass, as the Beavers had a quick 7-0 lead.

Altoona, though, outgained DuBois 379-150 on its way to 40 straight points. Altoona gained 249 of those yards on the ground. Jerrell Jackson ran for 165 yards on 11 carries for Altoona, including touchdown runs of 56, 62, and 21 yards.

Derek Marshall led DuBois on the ground with 44 yards on 14 carries. Sopic went 4-for-8 for 88 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Sopic's interception turned into six points for Altoona, as Brendon Perretta returned it 54-yards for a touchdown.

Altoona's Ryan Rose contributed with field goals of 44 and 38 yards.

ELK COUNTY CHRISTIAN WINS CITY CLASH

ST. MARYS- Elk County Christian put all the pieces together in a 34-7 win over St. Marys Friday night.

It was the 35th annual meeting of the cross-town rivals, and Elk County Christian (2-8) left Dutch Country Stadium on a high note.

The Crusaders rushed for 211 total yards, and Justin Taylor gained 100 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown.

Taylor got on the board with a 52-yard touchdown run nine seconds into the second quarter as the Crusaders led 6-0.

St. Marys (3-7) took the lead later in the quarter when Bryan Babb scored from five yards out and Tim Thompson tacked on the extra point at the 4:37 mark.

ECC responded before halftime, as Jeff Sidoni scored on a 15-yard run with 1:10 left in the half.

It was all ECC in the second half, scoring three touchdowns including two defensively. Robert Pearsall got things started with a 2-yard touchdown run. Rocco Tettis scored the last two touchdowns with interception returns of 20 and 35 yards.

ECC outgained St. Marys 265-182. Craig Timm added 80 yards on 14 carries for ECC

Bryan Babb led the St. Marys ground game with 96 yards on 23 carries. Dustin Ruberto contributed with 69 yards on 16 carries.

LATE TD LIFTS CARRICK OVER REDBANK VALLEY

PITTSBURGH- A quarterback sack and a fumble served as catalysts to a Carrick rally over Redbank Valley 26-20 Friday night.

With a 7-6 lead with less than two minutes left in second quarter and in Carrick territory, Redbank Valley quarterback Chris Merwin was sacked on fourth down.

After the Merwin sack, Carrick started at midfield and eventually scored on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Mike Pawles to Jordan Bobitski with three seconds left in the half to take a 12-7 lead.

The Bulldogs (5-5) led 20-18 at the end of three quarters thanks to an 11-yard touchdown run by Merwin and an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ron Geist with 27 seconds left in the third frame.

Redbank Valley had possession late in the contest needing only one first down to seal the victory, but a fumble at its own 41 led to Carrick's game-winning score.

Travis Bogdanski scored on a 11-yard run with 1:52 left to give Carrick the come-from-behind win.

Carrick outgained the Bulldogs 320-219 for the game, including 213-98 in the air.

Redbank Valley was victimized by Bobitski's 139 yards receiving on six catches. He also scored two touchdowns.

Geist led the Bulldogs in rushing with 98 yards on 19 carries. Merwin went 9-for-23 passing for 98 yards and a 3-yard touchdown pass to Dustin Kahle.
