YOUNGSVILLE - After achieving extended success at Eisenhower and taking a year off from football, head coach Conrad Danielson, now in his third season at Youngsville, is looking to take the Eagles to the next level.

The Eagles won only two games in Danielson's first year at Youngsville but improved to 4-5 last season, a season in which Youngsville almost finished 7-2 except for suffering a 14-13 loss to Eisenhower, a 7-6 loss to Ridgway and a 20-13 loss to Coudersport.

Danielson told the Olean Times-Herald's Chuck Pollock that last year was a young team learning to win.

"Hopefully, we did that when we knocked off Smethport (20-18)," Danielson was quoted as saying. "Of course, after the season they (Smethport) fired their coach ... maybe losing to us was the straw that broke the camel's back for him.

"But, for us, it was a huge win and I'm not sure the town realized what a monumental thing that was."

The Eagles are 30 players strong this year, a number that is a little higher that expected according to Danielson. Danielson noted to Pollock there is only four sophomores on the team and one freshman.

The Eagles return 10 letterman and eight total starters.
