REVLOC – Clearfield’s Dave Richards had his great
season capped off by being named the Pennsylvania Football News Class AAA
State Player of the Year.
Richards, who helped Clearfield to a 9-3 overall record, a 4-1 D9 League mark, the District 9 Class AAA title and the second round of the PIAA playoffs, led District 9 in total yards and touchdowns. He ran 246 times for 2,506 yards and 41 touchdowns and had 2,750 total yards of offense while scoring 45 total touchdowns. He also set the District 9 career touchdown mark finishing his career with 80. Richards was also named first-team Class AAA running back. TWENTY PLAYERS PLAYING IN DISTRICT 9 LEAGUES NAMED TO PFN ALL-STATE CLASS TEAMS Including Richards, 20 players playing for teams that played in District 9 leagues this season were named to the Pennsylvania Football News All-State Class Teams. In Class AAA, Richards was first-team running back, St. Marys Tristan Mulcahy was second-team place kicker, St. Marys running back Doug Surra was second-team running back, Punxsutawney’s Joe Martin was third-team quarterback, Punxsutawney’s Dustin Guidash was third-team running back, Bradford’s Shawn Colligan was second-team defensive back and Clearfield’s Jon Altemus was third-team defensive lineman. In Class AA, Karns City’s Matt Carnahan was third-team running back, Brookville’s Mike Hetrick was third-team defensive lineman and Karns City’s Jeff Wagner was third-team Jeff Wagner. In Class A, Curwensville’s Cory Bailor was first-team offensive lineman, Ridgway’s Dan Bjorkquist was second-team offensive lineman, Clarion-Limestone’s Rocky Davis was second-team kicker and the first-ever four-year member of the PFN teams, Clarion-Limestone’s Jordan Johnston was third-team offensive lineman, Kane Mike Jamerson was second-team defensive lineman, Eisenhower’s Jake Rulander was second-team linebacker, Eisenhower’s Josh Abbey was second-team punter, Cameron County’s Scott Aikens was third-team defensive back, Port Allegany’s Adam Rohrer was third-team linebacker and Clarion-Limestone’s Hayden Johnston was third-team linebacker.
