BROCKWAY – Two of the preseason favorites to win the AML South meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday night in Brockway in the first big AML South game of the year.

The Ridgway Elkers (1-0 overall, 1-0 AML South), fresh off a 46-18 beating of Otto-Eldred Friday night travel southwest to face the Brockway Rovers (1-0, 1-0), who are coming off a 50-25 win over Sheffield Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Andy Kelly (6-for-10, 53 yards, 1 touchdown), running back Ryan Mitchell (19 carries, 140 yards, 1 touchdown) and Dave Bundy (10 carries, 105 yards, 1 touchdown) and wide receivers Jesse Shirey (3 catches, 37 yards) and Justin Buchler (2 catches, 16 yards, 1 touchdown) lead Ridgway.

Brockway, primarily a running team, showed the ability to pass the ball as well as run it against Sheffield. Quarterback John Himes was 7-for-8 passing for 114 yards and one touchdown while running for an additional 21 yards, while Tom Bussard caught four passes for 75 yards.

But make no mistake about it, the Rovers still love to run the ball. Justin Sickeri led the rushing attack running 20 times for 96 yards and a score, while Jon Cantafio added 53 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
